Biography

New York born drummer Bobby Rondinelli had been playing with his guitarist brother Teddy in RONDINELLI before he joined RAINBOW, having previously been just pipped to the post by Eric Carr when auditioning for KISS. Rondinelli has also worked with SCORPIONS on 'Love At First Sting', QUIET RIOT on their 1993's 'Terrified' album and with BLACK SABBATH for their 1994 'Cross Purposes' album. Subsequently the drummer enrolled into the ranks of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT.

Early versions of RONDINELLI would be fronted by ex-ARMAGEDDON singer Jeff Fenholt, a man who later journeyed through JOSHUA, BLACK SABBATH and DRIVER. The 1985 line up of the band saw the Rondinelli brothers joined by bassist James Lomenzo and former HARLOT singer Ray Gillen. A later bass player was Tommy Hendrikson. Demos were cut for a major label but Gillen would be enticed away to join BLACK SABBATH as replacement for GLENN HUGHES. RONDINELLI dissolved with Bobby Rondinelli and Hendrikson joining WARLOCK. The four stringer would also come to prominence with Jeff Pilson's WAR AND PEACE.

The 1992 revamped line-up of RONDINELLI featured the two siblings, their sister Dorothy on keyboards and ex-DIO and GREAT WHITE bassist Teddy Cook who was in turn replaced by ex-SMOKESTACK LIGHTNING man Rob DiMartino. The latter would join VIRGIN STEELE and briefly RAINBOW. Cook also had a tenure with VIRGIN STEELE. Also in the frame would be VIRGIN STEELE frontman David DeFeis. He was approached to join the band but was too committed to his main act.

The 'Wardance' album surfaced in 1996, consisting of demo and live material recorded over a number of years which includes keyboard player Corey Davidson playing a part in the various recordings.

RAY GILLEN, of course, later spent time with BADLANDS and SUN RED SUN (the latter with Bobby Rondinelli) before his untimely death. Bassist James Lomenzo sprang to fame with WHITE LION before spells with PRIDE & GLORY and SLASH'S SNAKEPIT.

Rondinelli returned to BLACK SABBATH for a further bout of touring promoting their 'Forbidden' album. By 2000 the drummer was a member of AOR supergroup THE SIGN for the album 'Signs Of Life'. Teddy Cook joined THE SIGN for live work.

Rumours surfaced that RONDINELLI would be joined on a 2001 album by the esteemed figure of GLENN HUGHES although it transpired that the new recruits were in fact the former BLACK SABBATH duo of vocalist TONY MARTIN and veteran journeyman bass player Neil Murray.

On 29th March 2009 at Ollie's Point in Amityville, New York RONDINELLI performed at 'Bambfest', a tribute concert honoring Barry Ambrosio, worked for DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW and BON JOVI in the 1980s and managed the Sparks clubs in Huntington and Deer Park on Long Island, New York.
