Biography

Esteemed New York Death Metal band created during October of 1990. Both vocalist / guitarist Tom Stevens and guitarist Rob Yench also cite membership of the infamous INCANTATION. MORPHEUS DESCENDS, fronted by Jeff Reimer, made their entrance with a 1990 demo session billed as 'Accelerated Decrepitude'. A 7" double single 'Adipocere' then followed for the underground Seraphic Decay label then a further demo 'Corpse Under Glass'. These sessions would be collected together by the JL America label for the album release 'Ritual Of Infinity'.

The band toured heavily across America in 1994 supporting INCANTATION and ANAL CUNT with appearances at the Michigan 'Death Fest 4' and the Milwaukee 'Metal Fest' in both 1994 and 1995, the year of the independently issued 'Chronicles Of The Shadowed Ones'. MORPHEUS DESCENDS would hook up with INCANTATION once again for summer dates alongside ABSU and ENSLAVED. The group restructured, dispensing with Reimer and augmenting their sound with the addition of vocalist / guitarist Tom Stevens, a veteran of NOKTURNEL, SAVAGE DEATH and RIPPING CORPSE. This line-up cut the 1996 mini album 'The Horror Of The Truth'.

In late 1996 Yench and bassist Andy Newton created the side venture BRIMSTONE and in 1997 Yench and Stevens united with INCANTATION. Erstwhile MORPHEUS DESCENDS bassist Andy Newton, under the Pseudonym Lord Typhus Mirinor, would later found Black Metal band FOG.

The 2002 MORPHEUS DESCENDS release, 'Forbidden Path Of Unthinkable Evil' released by former bassist Andy Newton's Dark Horizons label, included a cover version of VENOM's 'Angel Dust' plus material from the 1991 Seraphic Decay 7" single.

Jeff Reimer passed away on 30th August 2005, reportedly as a result of a heroin overdose.

In 2009 Sam Inzerra launched the Crossover side project GENERATION KILL, a union with Rob Moschetti, ex-PRO-PAIN and M.O.D., on bass and Rob Dukes, from EXODUS, on lead vocals.
