Biography
Buffalo Hardcore Noise outfit with a sense of humour. EVERY TIME I DIE was manifested by the Buckley brothers, vocalist Keith and guitarist Jordan, during 1998. The pair pulled in guitarist Andy Williams, drummer Michael 'Ratboy' Novack and a session bassist to record an opening demo. Touring with BURIED ALIVE throughout the USA and into Canada saw John McCarthy installed on bass. Securing a deal with Goodfellow Records, and substituting McCarthy with Aaron Radaczyk, this union delivered the 2000 EP 'The Burial Plot Bidding War', after which EVERY TIME I DIE set out on an exhaustive live schedule. Switching to Ferret Records the band bounced back with the full-length 'Last Night In Town' in March of 2001, recorded at Zing Studios with Adam D. of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE acting as producer. Upon its release, EVERY TIME I DIE set out on the road as support to KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. This would prove merely the opening round of a series of live engagement that would see the band traversing North America for nearly two years. Road partnerships ensued with POISON THE WELL, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE and EIGHTEEN VISIONS. In the summer of 2002, after once again replacing their bassist with Steve Micciche, they were formed up part of a brief 'Warp' tour stint before taking on two more full U.S tours with NORMA JEAN, BLEEDING THROUGH and HOPESFALL. Canadian and East Coast forays put the band out as guests to CONVERGE and THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN.
A third set, the Eric Rachel and Alan Douches produced 'Hot Damn!', arrived in 2003. Live action re-commenced, the group allied with HOPESFALL and GIVE UP THE GHOST prior to shows in the UK alongside NORA and a resumption of U.S. dates with TERROR and THROWDOWN. EVERYTIME I DIE hooked up with AS I LAY DYING, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and SCARLET for North American dates throughout March and April of 2004. Live work extended further with concerts allied with THROWDOWN, WALLS OF JERICHO and 36 CRAZYFISTS prior to a run of gigs throughout May in union with EVERGREEN TERRACE and THE KINISON.
The Summer months saw no respite as EVERY TIME I DIE hooked up with LAMB OF GOD, ATREYU, and UNEARTH for a further round. Their profile was raised even higher by inclusion on the BLACK SABBATH and JUDAS PRIEST headlined roving 'Ozzfest' festival dates. A small incident at the 'Ozzfest' Nissan Pavilion show in Bristow in Virginia on 18th July had Keith Buckley in the press, arrested whilst "wearing a set of fake boobs" for "drunk and disorderly conduct". Buckley immediately retaliated, stating "I was NOT wearing fake boobs, but rather a 'do-rag'".
The band joined the SHADOWS FALL headed "Extreme Dojo Vol. 12" Japanese tour in early February 2005 alongside AS I LAY DYING, after which they confirmed former BETWEEN THE BURIED AN ME man Kevin Faulk as their new bassist.
The Summer of 2005 found the group, promoting the 'Gutter Phenomenon' album, participating in the US 'Sounds of the Underground' touring extravaganza, a collaboration between independent labels Ferret Music, Prosthetic Records, Trustkill Records and Metal Blade Records. The mammoth billing for these shows saw the band sharing stages with CLUTCH, OPETH, POISON THE WELL, FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES, CHIMAIRA, NORMA JEAN, UNEARTH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, THROWDOWN, HIGH ON FIRE, DEVILDRIVER, ALL THAT REMAINS, A LIFE ONCE LOST and GWAR. Regional additions included MADBALL and TERROR, splitting the East and West portions of the tour respectively, THE RED CHORD on the East Coast, FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES in the Midwest and Southeast and HIMSA for Western gigs. European dates throughout June had the band unified with LAMB OF GOD, UNEARTH and CALIBAN before the band joined A LIFE ONCE LOST and TWELVE TRIBES for the UK 'Under The Gun' tour in August.
Maintaining the road ethic, the band allied with HIGH ON FIRE, THE CHARIOT and THE RED CHORD for a month long, 27 city trek launching on 7th September in Poughkeepsie, New York. The band opened 2006 with US dates allied with STORY OF THE YEAR. However, a van crash in Wyoming forced the band out of the early shows, the group re-commencing the tour on 11th January in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Throughout February and March EVERY TIME I DIE got back on the road backed by BLEEDING THROUGH, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and HASTE THE DAY. May found the band touring the UK in alliance with IT DIES TODAY and PROTEST THE HERO. The band joined the gargantuan 2006 'Warped' festival tour that summer, this trek lasting through June 16th in Columbia, Maryland, winding its way through the USA and Canada and concluding on August 14th in Montreal. Bassist Chris Byrnes played his last show with the band on August 19th at Michigan's Dirtfest event.
The band convened with producer Steve Evetts for album recordings in March 2007. Australian dates alongside NORMA JEAN were scheduled for June.
EVERY TIME I DIE set 'New Junk Aesthetic' as the title of its fifth full-length album, due in the autumn 2009 via Epitaph Records. The album was recorded at an Anaheim, California studio working once again with producer Steve Evetts.
