Biography

New Jersey's AMERICAN ANGEL came together in 1987, signing to the Grudge label for a 1989 self-titled debut. At this juncture the band comprised singer Rocco Fury (a.k.a. Furiero), guitarists Danny Mochek and Petey D (Peter DeGeorge), bassist Steve Evetts and drummer Eric "Cutter" Nilla. A video for the track 'How Can I Miss You' scored the band valuable MTV airplay but the record failed to take off. With the demise of Grudge Records, the band cut a self-financed album, oddly titled '92 EP', in 1992.

Singer Rocco Fury featured as backing singer on ARCARA's 1997 album 'A Matter Of Time'. He would also be included on the 1998 Rock Dream Records CHEAP TRICK tribute album 'Stiff Competition' vocalising on the track 'She's Tight'. Gridlock Records compiled archive tracks, including 1989 demos, for the AMERICAN ANGEL compilation 'Archives' in 1998.

The singer fronted up the 2002 MOMENT OF SANITY album 'Trippin' On Dolls'.

Fury re-formed AMERICAN ANGEL in 2005, enlisting a new cast of members comprising guitarists Dennis Zehrer, of DOUBLE SHOT, RISQUE, JESTER and REVOLVER, and the SHOTGUN SYMPHONY credited Mike Bisulca, bassist Dan Bourguet and drummer Marc Ambrosy. A startling fact is that Bourguet, besides regular Rock n' Roll stints with IF SIX WAS NINE, WITHOUT LOVE and SHANGHAI LILLY, had recorded bass tracks for the soundtrack to an unreleased 'Beanie Babies' movie.

AMERICAN ANGEL signed with Chavis Records in October 2006 for the 'Vanity' album, recorded at Spa Sound in New Jersey with producer Stevie D. Keyboard contributions came courtesy of the TAKARA, VOX TEMPUS and CHINA BLUE credited Eric Ragno. Bass was now in the hands of Jay Druzba.
