Biography

POWERMAN 5000 is a Boston, Massachussetts based modern Rock act forged during 1991. Vocalist Spider One is ROB ZOMBIE's younger brother whilst guitarist M.33 is none other than sibling Mike Tempesta. Constant touring and 'Ozzfest' appearances paid off with second album 'Tonight The Stars Revolt', released in 1999, shipping platinum status.

The founding membership of POWERMAN 5000 comprised Spider One, guitarist Adam 12 (Adam Williams), turntable and keyboard player DJ Brian, bassist Dorian 27 (a.k.a. Dorian Heartsong), and drummer Al 3 (Allen Pahanish). The band debuted commercially in 1993 with the EP 'A Private Little War'. Titled after a 'Star Trek' episode, only 500 copies were manufactured. Curve Of The Earth Records contracted the group for the follow up March 1994 Mudrock produced EP 'True Force'.

POWERMAN 5000 switched to Conscience Records for their full-length debut, December 1995's 'The Blood Splat Rating System', once again produced by Mudrock. In February 1997 this exact same set of songs was remixed and re-issued under the revised title 'Mega!! Kung Fu Radio' through Interscope Records, backed by single releases 'Tokyo Vigilante #1' and 'Organizized'.

The group broke through into the US mainstream with July 1999's loosely conceptual 'Tonight The Stars Revolt!', this album shipping over a million copies. Singles 'When Worlds Collide', featured on the 'Little Nicky' movie soundtrack, 'Supernova Goes Pop', prominent on the 'Universal Soldier: The Return' soundtrack and 'Nobody's Real', included on the 'End Of Days' film score, all achieved radio success. Title track 'Tonight The Stars Revolt!' was highlighted on the 'Blade II' soundtrack whilst another album cut, a remix of 'The Son Of X-51', was to be included on the 'Bride Of Chucky' score. 'Tonight The Stars Revolt!', produced by Ulrich Wild and Sylvia Massy, included a cover version of THE CARS' 'Good Times Roll'.

The summer of 2000 would find POWERMAN 5000 performing on a METALLICA and KORN topped arena tour. The 2001 album 'Anyone For Doomsday?' was produced by Terry Date. However, a scheduled American release date of 28th August was postponed and a package tour schedule planned for September alongside MACHINE HEAD, SALIVA, HALFCOCKED and STEREOMUD was also cancelled.

As October closed the band officially announced the departure of bassist Dorian Heartsong and drummer Al Pahanish. Heartsong would soon be announced as having joined THE FLYING TIGERS. Rumours circulated that Brian Tichy, a veteran of acts such as FOREIGNER, OZZY OSBOURNE and ZAKK WYLDE, had landed the position on the drum stool. However, this did not transpire.

The band, complete with a brand new rhythm section of drummer AD7 (a.k.a. Adrian Ost) and bassist Siggy 00 (Sigve Sjursen), would announce touring plans for summer of 2002 billed as 'Locobazooka' and comprising a package billing of STATIC X, SEVENDUST and NONPOINT. 2003 saw the arrival of the 'Transform' album, produced by Joe Baressi, who had previously acted as engineer on the group's 'Tonight The Stars Revolt!' record. To support the record the band headed out on a North American summer headline trek with guests REACH 454 and SHINEDOWN. Soldiering on the band united with SPINESHANK and ADEMA for North American dates throughout July and August. A September set of co-headliners found the band sharing a billing with MUDVAYNE, V SHAPE MIND and FINGERTIGHT. However, the band then dropped off these shows claiming a withdrawal of record company support.

Adrian Ost would join up with SOCIETY 1 for live work in November and in January of 2004 deputied on the road for DOPE. Mike Tempesta joined forces with Riggs of the ROB ZOMBIE band to forge SCUM OF THE EARTH. This duo soon signed to Eclipse Records for a debut album 'Blah Blah Blah, Love Songs For The New Millennium'.

Spider One re-launched his Megatronic Records label in July with the issue of POWERMAN 5000's archive collection 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Volume 1'. With recordings underway for a new 2005 album it would be revealed in January that the band had been joined by ex-ALIEN ANT FARM guitarist Terry Corso and former HALF COCKED guitarist Johnny Rock (Johnny Heatley). This unit spent the Spring recording at Mad Oak Studios in Boston, Massachusetts on a record to be issued on frontman Spider One's own Megatronic Records. US headline tour dates spanned through May and July before a notable gig in Seoul, South Korea on 5th August. To mark this latter event a special, Korean only, tour EP comprising previously unreleased studio recordings was issued.

In March 2006 POWERMAN 5000 contracted a record deal with DRT Entertainment to issue the album 'Destroy What You Enjoy', recorded at the Hobby Shop in Eagle Rock, California reprising their relationship with producer Mudrock. 'Destroy What You Enjoy' sold over 7,000 copies in its first week of US sales to debut at number 121 on the album charts.

POWERMAN 5000 headlined the 'Bud Rock' festival held at the Olympic Park in Seoul, South Korea on November 25th, the same day 'Destroy What You Enjoy' was released in that country. The group then performed at three American military bases throughout South Korea before returning for US club shows throughout December.

Siggy Sjursen joined THE PANIC CHANNEL in January 2007. POWERMAN 5000 lined up an extensive run of US dates throughout July and into October. Beforehand, the band parted ways with guitarists Johnny Heatley and Terry Corso. New recruits would be Evan Rodaniche ('Evan 9'), of CAGE 9, and Dave Pino ('Velkro'), from DAMONE. The following year another CAGE 9 member, bassist Gustavo Aued ('X51'), enrolled. Gordon Heckaman ('GFlash'), of DEPSWA, took over the drum position.

POWERMAN 5000 released a new song, 'Super Villain', as a digital single on 10th February 2009. The group released a new digital single, 'V Is For Vampire', on 16th April via digital music outlets. US headline dates were conducted through October and November. On 1st August the band announced 'Somewhere On The Other Side Of Nowhere' as the title of its new album, due on 6th October through Mighty Loud! Records.
