Biography

Gaithersburg, Maryland based BLACK SABBATH fixated multi-racial band of high repute. Initially founded in as FORCE, releasing a 4 track EP, in 1988 band members decided to operate purely as a BLACK SABBATH tribute band some five years of touring across America led to the realization that there was a market for an album of Sabbath inspired originals. IRON MAN recorded for the cult yet ill fated German Doom label Hellhound Records. The debut March 1993 'Black Night' album featured vocalist Rob Levey, guitarist Al Moriss III, bassist Larry Brown and drummer Ron Kalimon. Promotion included a West Coast tour in alliance with CATHEDRAL and PENTAGRAM.

With 'Black Night' having generated enthusiastic media and fan response demos were cut for a second album but Hellhound rejected them, insisting the band obtain a new vocalist. Levey was supplanted by New Yorker Dan Michalek for the October 1995 sophomore effort 'The Passage', which also witnessed Gary Isom as the band's new drummer. The rhythm section underwent another overhaul prior to the third album 'Generation Void', released by the Brainticket label in 1999. New recruits this time being female bassist Ginger and drummer Vic Tomaso.

Gary Isom joined SPIRIT CARAVAN, led by former ST. VITUS and THE OBSESSED man Wino. The drummer also served tenures with WRETCHED and PENTAGRAM and also activated NITROSEED. Ron Kalimon journeyed through ASYLUM and UNORTHODOX before teaming up with INTERNAL VOID in 1995.

Over the ensuing years Rob Levey gained respect on the scene as the driving force behind the 'Stoner Hands Of Doom' festivals. IRON MAN finally broke a seven year hiatus by performing at the 'Doom Or Be Doomed' festival held at the Sidebar in Baltimore, Maryland in April 2007. Joining founding member Al Morris III would be Louis Strachan on bass, from WRETCHED, IRON FIST, IMMORAL, CREEPSHOW and LIFE BEYOND, and Gus Basilika, of INDESTROY, GUT SOUP, DELIRIUM, LIFE BEYOND and WRETCHED, on drums whilst handling the vocals was Joe Donnelly from BLACK SABBATH tribute band SABBRA CADABRA.

Shadow Kingdom Records released the first new IRON MAN album in 10 years, entitled 'I Have Returned', in April 2009.
