Having retired from active service in METAL CHURCH, guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof surprisingly turned up in the IRS signed HALL AFLAME, a band replete with some seriously monstrous guitar work. Interestingly, METAL CHURCH vocalist Mike Howe supplies backing vocals.

In 1997 Vanderhoof re-emerged united back with METAL CHURCH drummer Kirk Arrington releasing the outstanding Southern Rock flavoured VANDERHOOF self titled album on SPV Steamhammer Records. Somewhat inevitably Vanderhoof resurrected METAL CHURCH to close of the century.
