Biography

GORDIAN KNOT's 1998 debut, fronted by ex-CYNIC man Sean Malone, is an all instrumental heavily distorted Jazz Rock affair which sees contributions from guitarists Ron Jarzomebek of WATCHTOWER and SPASTIC INK, Glenn Snelwar alongside Trey Gunn from KING CRIMSON. Even DREAM THEATER's John Myung contributes percussion. Drums are in the hands of DEATH and CYNIC credited Sean Reinert. Both Malone and Reinert joined AGHORA in 2000.

Malone would session on SPASTIK INK recordings in 2001. During May of 2002 it would be revealed that Malone was entrenched in a new ProgRock 'supergroup' mentored by DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy. The impressive cast list for this venture also cited such esteemed figures as PAIN OF SALVATION frontman Daniel Gildenlöw, erstwhile DREAM THEATER and presently CHROMA KEY keyboard player Kevin Moore and FATES WARNING guitarist JIM MATHEOS.

GORDIAN KNOT's 'Emergent' album witnessed a whole swathe of heavyweight guests included former YES and KING CRIMSON man Bill Bruford, STEVE HACKETT, Jim Matheos of FATES WARNING and the CYNIC duo of Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert. In 2004 Reinert re-emerged in Prog Rock outfit AEON SPOKE, touting the album 'Above The Buried Cry'.

In early 2007 it was revealed Sean Reinert had forged a new Death Metal act billed C-187 in alliance with M.A.N, ex-TRANSPORT LEAGUE and MNEMIC vocalist Tony Jelencovich, PESTILENCE guitarist Patrick Mameli and ex-CYNIC and ATHEIST bassist Tony Choy. Signing to Dutch imprint Mascot Records, C-187 cut debut album tracks that February at Space Lab Studios in Düsseldorf in Germany.

In 2008 Ron Jarzombek featured on the song 'Jato Unit' on NEVERMORE guitarist JEFF LOOMIS' solo debut album 'Zero Order Phase'.
