FIRES OF BABYLON, described on their debut press release as "classic 1980's-style, shredding U.S. heavy metal reincarnated", was formulated as a studio project during early 2008 by guitarist Lou St. Paul, a founder member of WINTERS BANE. The new project was realised with the introduction of three well known Metal performers in vocalist Rob Rock, a veteran of IMPELLITTERI, WARRIOR, AXEL RUDI PELL and M.A.R.S. PROJECT: DRIVER, bassist Kelly Conlon, an ex-member of DEATH, having performed on the seminal 'Symbolic' album, and MONSTROSITY, featuring on 'Millennium' and 'Dark Purity', plus drummer Robert Falzano, of ANNIHILATOR and SHATTER MESSIAH.

The Metal Heaven label put out the eponymous debut album in May 2008. ROB ROCK had also by this point issued four solo albums, 'Rage Of Creation', 'Eyes Of Eternity', 'Holy Hell' and 'Garden Of Chaos', whilst Conlan was active with his project INFINITY MINUS ONE.
