Biography

So-Cal Punks FACE TO FACE came together in 1990, initially billed as ZERO TOLERANCE, with a founding line up comprising the ex-VICTORIA MANOR pairing of vocalist / guitarist Trever Keith and bassist Matt Riddle with Rob Kurth on the drums. The band's commercial debut came with material on the 'A Strange Compilation' record issued by Dr. Strange Records. This would be followed by what is generally regarded to be the group's tour de force album outing 'Don't Turn Away'. The album was actually released twice, the subsequent reprint being through Fat Wreck Chords, the label owned bu Fat Mike of NOFX. European touring, partnered with LAGWAGON, saw the band joined by second guitarist Chad Yaro. FACE TO FACE's next move would be the EP 'Over It', this release compiling previous B sides and tracks re-worked from 'Don't Turn Away' with the new line up. The full length 'Big Choice' then ensued, a re-vamped version of 'Disconnected' appearing in the cult movie 'Tank Girl'. Tour work included guest slots to THE OFFSPRING and THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES. However, the band's label, Victory Records, then went into receivership, prompting a move to A&M Records. Riddle would be let go at this juncture, the erstwhile bassist later joining PULLEY then 22 JACKS and NO USE FOR A NAME.

FACE TO FACE pulled in new bass man Scott Shiflett of 22 JACKS for an eponymous album. The group would then opt for a return to basics and established their own imprint Lady Luck for issue of the live EP 'Econolive'. Tour work with NO DOUBT preceded the 'Live' album, this taken from two shows at The Roxy venue. Further personnel changes saw the introduction of drummer Pete Parada for recording of the 'Ignorance Is Bliss' set.

Trevor Keith produced the 1999 album 'And The Sadness Prevails' from Californian Nu-Punks NO MOTIV. The early 1999 release 'Standards And Practices' is a collection of covers including tracks by RAMONES, PIXIES, POGUES, FUGAZI and JAWBREAKER. The band allied themselves with the controversial file sharing giant Napster for nationwide touring in 2000. Upon completion of these shows Yaro bailed out, leaving FACE TO FACE as a trio once more. Vagrant Records would pick the band up for a split album shared with DROPKICK MURPHYS and new studio record 'How To Ruin Everything'.

The band folded in 2003.
