Biography

Stoner Rock outfit created by the revered figure of ex-SAINT VITUS and THE OBSESSED frontman Scott 'Wino' Weinrich. SHINE announced their arrival with the 'Powershine' demo. The 1998 single is released on Tolotta Records, the label owned by FUGAZI's J.O. Lally. Joining Wino in this venture would be ex-HEAVY SOUL and WRETCHED bassist Dave Sherman and drummer Gary Isom. The latter boasted an illustrious career path streching into the annals of pedigree Doom with such acts as HEAVY SOUL, IRON MAN, UNORTHODOX, WRETCHED and PENTAGRAM.

SHINE soon switched titles to SPIRIT CARAVAN under threat of legal action from another act who had previously registered the title. The band's debut album 'Jug Fulla Sun' had at that stage already been recorded but luckily not manufactered. As SPIRIT CARAVAN the band released two highly regarded albums before folding in May of 2002.

Weinrich forged SHRINEBUILDER in 2008, a project that featured in its ranks Scott Kelly, of NEUROSIS, Al Cisneros, of OM and SLEEP, and Dale Crover of MELVINS. The group entered the studio with producer Toshi Kasai from 9th January 2009 through to January 11th for a full-length album release on Neurot Recordings.
