Biography

Renowned TWISTED SISTER, WIDOWMAKER and DESPERADO frontman and high profile Rock DJ. Best known for his outrageously glammed up persona fronting the platinum New York act TWISTED SISTER Snider would score one of the most unlikeliest of hits in 1998. Canadian Pop diva CELINE DION recorded a Christmas song the singer had written for his wife, 'God Bless Us Everyone', included on her seasonal album 'These Are Special Times' which went on to sell 10 million copies.

More in character Snider would feature on the 2000 AC/DC tribute album 'Back In Black' vocalizing on the cut 'Walk All Over You'. That same year the singer launched his solo album 'Never Let The Bastards Wear You Down'. Previous to this endeavour Snider had been active on the club circuit with SICK MUTHAFUCKERS, bizarrely actually a TWISTED SISTER tribute band. The conception of SICK MUTHAFUCKERS came together when MARILYN MANSON bassist Twiggy Ramirez and NINE INCH NAILS guitarist Robin Fink suggested to Snider that a one off New York gig might be a blast. The sold out audience and the reaction to this show prompted Snider, who was also busying himself with his own act WIDOWMAKER, into founding a more permanent version of SICK MUTHAFUCKERS.

Recruits came from local musicians guitarist Tony Pallmucci, drummer Charlie Mills and two STRENGTH members guitarist Keith Alexander and bassist Derek Tailor. Alexander was also better known for his roles in CARNIVORE and PRIMAL SCREAM. Various ex-members of TWISTED SISTER have been known to jam with the band who perform on a regular basis in New York. Indeed, Snider was reunited with TWISTED SISTER colleagues Jay Jay French, Eddie Ojeda and A.J. Pero (Mark Mendoza declined) at an SICK MUTHAFUCKERS show at the Industry Club in New York in July 1997.

Snider would branch out into other medias, carving out a niche for himself in radio and TV where he played the host at the Hartford WMRQ morning 'Dee Snider Radio Show', the syndicated 'Rockfest House Of Hair' as well as television commentaries for ABC's 'World News Now' programme.

The man assembled a live band for roadwork in North America during June of 2002 comprising of his TWISTED SISTER colleague A.J. Pero, WIDOWMAKER bass player Freddy Villano, guitarist Dan McCafferty, and drummer Tony Palmucci. Snider, now 'Dr. Snider', would be afforded the honour of an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the New York College of Health Professions the same month, bestowed upon the singer for his uncompromising vocal stance against music censorship.

Although having lost his radio show Snider bounced back in spectacular fashion during 2003, performing dates with the reunited TWISTED SISTER and launching the ambitious Rock Opera project VAN HELSING'S CURSE. Snider would also donate vocal tracks to a version of the KISS classic 'Detroit Rock City' for a tribute album 'Spin The Bottle' in 2004 and by August was back on the airwaves fronting a weekday evening show for Philadelphia rock station WMMR 93.3 FM.

On 4th November DEE SNIDER put in a unique performance onboard the world's largest aircraft carrier, USS Nimitz. After taping a VH1 Classic Thanksgiving special and hosting a live broadcast from the deck of the ship of his daily radio show on WMMR, the singer assembled a band made up on Navy personnel to perform TWISTED SISTER's 'We're Not Gonna Take It' and 'I Wanna Rock'.

On 11th July 2005 erstwhile DEE SNIDER band guitarist Keith Alexander was killed in a biking accident.

The singer fronted a successful TWISTED SISTER reunion throughout 2007 and 2008. In a notable one off show, the singer took part in the 'Monster Circus' performance in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Masquerade Showroom at the Rio Suite Hotel Casino on 9th December 2008, appearing with an all-star band involving bassist Rudy Sarzo, of OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT, WHITESNAKE and DIO, guitarist Bruce Kulick, of KISS, Tony Montana of GREAT WHITE, Bobby Rock, of SLAUGHTER and VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, plus John Corabi, of RATT and MÖTLEY CRÜE
