Biography
Raw, hard rocking outfit fronted by Finnish born vocalist George Dolivo and including erstwhile WARRIOR drummer Liam Jason. The oddly named RHINO BUCKET took their title from a combination of earlier name suggestions 'Rhino Chaser' and 'Bucket of Lard'. RHINO BUCKET, unashamed of their almost blatant vintage AC/DC influences, appeared on the scene with a live promotion cassette, recorded at the Coconut Teaszer in Los Angeles. RHINO BUCKET took a lot of media flak, deemed a little too close to Angus & co. for comfort, but would succeed in carving out a sizeable fan base based on the undoubted sincerity of their music and extensive road work.
Their opening record, 'Rhino Bucket' issued in 1990, would be produced by Daniel Rey, much to the chagrin of the band. Years later, a disgusted Georg Dolivo confessed to only having played guitar on one track, 'Shot Down'. The 1992 'Get Used To It' album would garner extra beneficial exposure by having the track 'Ride With Yourself' featured in the blockbuster movie 'Wayne's World' and its accompanying double platinum album soundtrack. Notable touring included Australian dates flanking THE ANGELS and THE POOR. RHINO BUCKET replaced drummer Liam Jason with the high profile figure of English ex-TYTAN and DIO drummer Simon Wright. The Englishman had even enjoyed a lengthy term with - AC/DC!
RHINO BUCKET would be let go by Warner Bros. and the group suffered in the fickle days of Grunge but persevered putting out the commendable 1994 opus 'Pain'. In adverse times though, the band would ultimately fold. The following year Dolivo united with fellow Scandinavian and SHOTGUN MESSIAH guitarist Harry Cody forging the outfit DAS CABAL. This venture issued a 1996 demo session, tracks from which were included on the movie soundtrack to 'Boogie Boys'.
Wright later joined UFO for their 'Walk On Water' world tour prior to a return to DIO. In an exclusive interview with the notorious 'Metal Sludge' website former member Liam Jason would reveal that she had cross gendered during her time away from RHINO BUCKET, becoming Jackie Enx. 1998 would witness the reforging of links between RHINO BUCKET comrades Dolivo and bassist Reeve Downes for a fresh endeavour dubbed DEEP SIX HOLIDAY. Onboard for these sessions would be WHITE SISTER and TATTOO RODEO drummer Rick Wright and erstwhile KIX guitarist Brian Forsythe. Unfortunately DEEP SIX HOLIDAY's live campaign consisted entirely of one gig acting as support to L.A. GUNS before they too broke up. Wright subsequently was drawn back into a WHITE SISTER reunion. It would appear that for a brief period RHINO BUCKET operated as BUZZARD KILL 7, eventually bringing Enx / Jason back on board.
In 2001, a reputed RHINO BUCKET bassist, Eric Becica, would form part of the reunion HELLION line-up. Still a going concern in 2002, RHINO BUCKET announced the induction of guitarist Brian Forsyth back into the ranks as their latest recruit and plans for new studio product. Downes and Forsyth would also operational with the club act THE TRANCE POETS. During November of 2003 RHINO BUCKET announced they were to record a new EP release. New music would garner favourable national exposure for the band as tracks would be included in the CBS TV series 'The Handler' as well as movies 'Rolling Kansas' and 'Stateside' during 2004. In November of that year RHINO BUCKET recorded five new songs for inclusion on the horror movie soundtrack to 'The Outdoorsman'.
RHINO BUCKET, crafting a brand new album in the Spring of 2005, would be announced as appearing at the notable AC/DC convention, 'Big Ball II - The Second Coming' held during August in Wrexham, North Wales. The band signed to Acetate Records in July to cut the Stefan Siggurson produced album 'And Then It Got Ugly' for 2006 release.
US live campaigning in April 2006 saw RHINO BUCKET teaming up with SUPERSUCKERS. The group parted ways with Jackie Enx in November. That same month two RHINO BUCKET releases emerged, a re-issued and remastered 'Pain', hosting five previously unreleased tracks, plus 'No Song Left Behind', a 16 set collection of rarities. Dusty Watson, of CONCRETE BLONDE, LEGS DIAMOND, SUPERSUCKERS, LITA FORD, and AGENT ORANGE repute, sat behind the drum kit for RHINO BUCKET at their New Year's Eve Show in Austin, Texas.
US headline dates throughout September and November 2007 saw a return to action for Simon Wright on the drums. The following year, with Wright temporarli unavailable, the group pulled in John Covington, of THE SCHOOLBOYS, GREG LEON INVASION and BIG COCK, as a temporary measure. RHINO BUCKET commenced recording of a fresh album on 1st April 2008, the line-up comprising Georg Dolivo, Brian Forsythe, Reeve Downes and Simon Wright.
Wright did not tour with the band in 2009 due to "previous recording commitments". Anthony Biuso filled in.
