A retro 'Speed Renaissance' pure Thrash band convened by EXHUMED members vocalist Matt Harvey and drummer Andy Jones. DEKAPITATOR, incensed by what they viewed as 'false Thrash' coming onto the scene, apparently formed in an effort to show the world what just real Thrash was. Judging by the the almost universal praise bestowed upon the album 'We Will Destroy, ...You Will Obey' DEKAPITATOR appears to have succeeded in their goal.

The original band name chosen was HAMMERFALL but some enterprizing Swedes got to that one first. DEKAPITATOR debuted as a trio of Hellfiend on "Killsaw & Deaththroat", Bulldoze on "Thermo Nuclear Bass Slaughter" and Atomic Maniac supplying "Rapid Fire Drum Assault". This unit delivered two tracks 'Make Them Die' and 'Haunted By Evil' to a 1997 split 7" single shared with the notorious NUNSLAUGHTER.

The band signed to Blackmetal.com Records for the album. Produced by Thrash veteran guitarist JAMES MURPHY the record also featured a holidaying Fredrik Soderberg of Swedish act DAWN on backing vocals. Hellfiend, Blackwulf and Maniac would also be operational with the side project CADAVERIZER.

On 9th July 2005 DEKAPITATOR lined up at The Pound outdoor amphitheatre in San Francisco alongside TESTAMENT, VICIOUS RUMORS, LÄÄZ ROCKIT, HIRAX, AGENT STEEL, DREAMS OF DAMNATION, MUDFACE, NEIL TURBIN, BROCAS HELM and IMAGIKA for the 'Thrash Against Cancer' benefit.
