STEPHEN PEARCY

Biography

For over two decades vocalist Stephen Pearcy had led multi-platinum Rockers RATT from their very earliest days as MICKEY RATT to their public fall out in the late 90's. Minus Pearcy RATT would tour North America regardless supplanting their former frontman with JIZZY PEARL of LOVE/HATE. However, Pearcy bided his time setting up his own record label Top Fuel Records to issue material from his Punk act VICIOUS DELITE and archive RATT tracks. Finally in 2001 Pearcy issued a solo album 'Social Intercourse'. The album featured tracks originally destined for RATT and co-written by RATT men Keri Kelli and Robbie Crane.

Pearcy announced tour plans for 2001 billing his band as STEPHEN PEARCY'S RATT.Pearcy's touring band included ex-SEA HAGS and ARCADE guitarist Frankie Wilsex. Pearcy's new act would form a touring package billed as 'Voices Of Metal' in alliance with VINCE NEIL, SLAUGHTER, BRITNY FOX and VIXEN. The band had to pull out mid way through the tour when Stephen slipped on the tour bus steps breaking some ribs.

RATT would be "honoured" by a STEPHEN PEARCY fronted rendition of 'Round And Round' by THE TORIES included on the compilation album 'Metal Rules- A Tribute To The Bad Hair Days'. Pearcy himself, having lost a court case over ownership of the RATT name, put his energies into a RATT tribute album entitled 'Rodent- Back In The Cellar' apparently including such high profile artists as SLIPKNOT, with 'Lay It Down', DROWNING POOL's 'Wanted Man' and other contributions from DWEEZIL ZAPPA, SALIVA, COLD and PANTERA's Dimebag Darrell. However, this project never emerged.

STEPHEN PEARCY would head out on summer dates in 2002 strengthening the RATT connection by not only having erstwhile RATT comrade bassist Juan Croucier's band LIQUID SUNDAY as opening act but having Croucier double up duties as bass player for his band too. Further extensive dates ran through March of 2003 as Pearcy revealed his new band had cut a re-worked version of the RATT classic 'Round And Round'. The singer was apparently also penning a biography.

The singer was found to be keeping the RATT history alive later that year, re-recording an album's worth of both RATT and archive MICKEY RATT tunes for Cleopatra Records. These sessions included guitar contributions from both JAKE E. LEE and GEORGE LYNCH. Also in the works was a MICKEY RATT collection dubbed 'Rattus Erectus' compiling tracks dating back as far as 1976.

A new solo album, 'Fueler', featuring ex-QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali, guitarists Erik Ferentinos, Mark Zavon and Frankie Wilsey, drummer Todd Roberson and bassists Matt Thorn, of ROUGH CUTT repute, and Troy Johnson, arrived in February of 2004. 'Fueler' would include a cover version of REAL LIFE's 'Send Me An Angel'. That same year the singer would also partner with HELMET guitarist Page Hamilton for a rendition of AC/DC's 'Rock n' Roll Damnation' included on the Rufftown 'We Salute You' tribute album.

By September it seemed that the singer's much vaunted 'Bastards of Metal' tour had been finalised, as an announcement revealed plans to include a roster of Pearcy, former ANTHRAX frontman Joey Belladonna, the BULLETBOYS Marq Torien, KEEL and IRONHORSE man Ron Keel and Jason McMaster of DANGEROUS TOYS and WATCHTOWER. Also on the billing would be be DROP and STS. For shooting of a promotional video for the track 'Drive With Me', Pearcy utilised a band unit comprising guitarists Erik Ferentinos of RAT BASTARD and Mark Zavon from JRZ, bassist Mike Duda of W.A.S.P. and drummer Rich Contadino of TIJUANA BULLFIGHT.

Early 2005 found Pearcy stepping into the world of celluloid by starring as evil hippie guru Timothy Bach in the horror movie 'Camp Utopia'. Late April had the singer in the studio, recording an acoustic version of RATT's 'Round And Round' hit with the ADLER'S APPETITE, VINCE NEIL and and SLASH'S SNAKEPIT credited Keri Kelli and VOODOO and 13A man Erik Ferentinos handling guitars. Another release on the album front would be 'Rat Era', a collection of re-recorded RATT and MICKEY RATT tracks featuring both Tracii Guns and GEORGE LYNCH. Pearcy also made time to donate vocals to the track 'Killer Grin' on the Christian Rock project LIBERTY N' JUSTICE's 'Soundtrack Of A Soul' opus.

US Summer shows found the band participating in the 'Metal Blast' tour packaged with L.A. GUNS, METAL CHURCH and headliners W.A.S.P.. A high profile bout of US touring saw Pearcy teaming up with former WARRANT frontman JANI LANE, DON DOKKEN, FIREHOUSE and KIP WINGER for VH1 Classic's 'Metal Mania: Stripped Across America' trek in late October.

Pearcy teamed up with BULLETBOYS and BANG TANGO for the 'Metal In America Tour 2006' beginning in early February. Joining his live band would be ex-GIUFFRIA and QUIET RIOT bassist Chuck Wright and the LOGAN/ROBERTSON and BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION credited Scot Coogan on drums.

Pearcy announced UK dates partnered again with BEAUTIFUL CREATURES for April, following up with solo shows in Italy and an appearance at the Baltic Sea 'Rock The Boat' festival. However, these concerts were then cancelled. The singer featured on the VAN HALEN song 'Running With The Devil' included on the tribute album '80s Metal Tribute To Van Halen' released by Deadline Records in September 2006. US touring, dubbed 'Metal In America 2006' commencing October 27th at the Vine Street Lounge, Hollywood and running into December saw Jerry Scott on bass. The first night of this trek proved notable when Bobby Blotzer joined Pearcy and Croucier onstage to render 'Your in Love' and 'Round and Round'.

In March 2007 it was announced Pearcy had joined the ranks of SCRAP METAL, a live project featuring NELSON's Gunnar and Matthew Nelson, SLAUGHTER's Mark Slaughter, KELLY KEAGY of NIGHT RANGER and ERIC MARTIN of MR. BIG.

SWIRL and BRITNY FOX teamed up with Stephen Pearcy's solo band on a US tour in December 2008.
