Biography

A ferocious Bay Area Thrash band, founded in 1993-94 and featuring ex-WICKED TRUTH drummer Henry Moreno. San Carlos based IMAGIKA musically unashamedly harks back to the tradition that put the area on the Metal map. Taking their name from a Clive Barker novel, IMAGIKA debuted in April of 1996 with an eponymous outing issued on their own imprint, Headless Corpse Records. Subsequently this album would be distributed in Germany by the ABS concern. They would then score a licensing deal with the Nuclear Blast subdivision Radiation Records to distribute their 'Worship' album before switching to the Massacre label. The band toured Germany during 1999 as openers to GRAVE DIGGER and IRON SAVIOR.

Bass player Michael Dargis departed in 2000. The album '... And So It Burns' featured GRAVE DIGGER's Chris Boltendahl and Uwe Lulis as guests. This album was re-released with an additional three extra tracks culled from the 'Worship' sessions by World War III Records for America, although the album title was oddly changed to simply 'So It Burns'. IMAGIKA would hook up with World War III for two tribute albums, donating versions of METALLICA's 'Four Horsemen' and BLACK SABBATH's 'Never Say Die'.

The band, splitting away from Massacre Records, announced the recruitment of new bassist Elena Repetto, previously with I MOTHER EARTH, for recording of a projected 2002 album 'Fallen God'. Repetto made herself newsworthy when, as a METALLICA fan club 'bass audition' contest winner, she was delivered the prize of performing 'Seek & Destroy' with the famed act on stage.

A pivotal point in the band's history came in August 2003 with the departure of singer David Michael. Due to this major change the remaining band members announced a change in the band name. However, once new singer Norman Skinner of MACHINE CALLED MAN and TRAMOTANE had been installed the group changed their minds, deciding to stick with IMAGIKA. Bolstering their sound, a second guitarist in the form of PUNISHER's Pat Toms, was added in December.

IMAGIKA's fourth album, 'Devils On Both Sides' recorded with producers Neal Kernon and Juan Urteaga, would be readied for early 2005 release. The band signed a licensing deal with Mausoleum Records for the worldwide release. On 9th July 2005 IMAGIKA lined up at The Pound outdoor amphitheatre in San Francisco alongside TESTAMENT, VICIOUS RUMORS, LÄÄZ ROCKIT, HIRAX, AGENT STEEL, DEKAPITATOR, MUDFACE, NEIL TURBIN, BROCAS HELM and DREAMS OF DAMNATION for the 'Thrash Against Cancer' benefit.

The group announced the June 2006 'Mausoleum Metal Masters Tour' of the USA, this trek also featuring other Mausoleum recording artists PHANTOM-X and HYADES. Crash Music Inc. released the 'My Bloodied Wings' album in July.

The album 'Feast For The Hated' was released on 20th May 2008 via Locomotive Records. The sessions were mixed at Sweden's Sonic Train Studio with KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque behind the desk. U.S. headline dates were conducted in May 2009. However, guitarist Corey Krick left the band "to pursue other ventures".

IMAGIKA entered Fang Studios in September 2009 to record their next album 'Portrait Of A Hanged Man', once again utilising Andy La Rocque to handle the mix at his Sonic Train Studios.
