Biography
Originally named YOUNG GUNNS, this Los Angeles quintet formed in 1991 and were snapped up by Capitol for an album deal almost immediately.
Drummer Jimmy D. (Jimmy Darby) had previously played in Los Angeles band NRG before they became GRAVEYARD TRAIN and signed to Geffen. Bassist Marc Simon is ex-ST. VALENTINE. Guitarist Brent Woods had taken lessons from none other than OZZY OSBOURNE guitar legend Randy Rhoads.
The group promoted the Andy Johns produced 'Under The Influence' album, featuring the track 'Clock Strikes' co-written with KISS' PAUL STANLEY, with an American tour on a bill that also included BABYLON A.D. and ROXY BLUE. The group had previously played dates with FOUR HORSEMEN. A second album, simply entitled 'Wildside', produced by Dito Godwin and issued in 1995, witnessed a switch in direction to the then current Grunge fad. By this juncture WILDSIDE comprised singer Drew Hannah, bassist Marc Simon, drummer Jimmy Darby and guitar player Bruce Draper. The record bombed and WILDSIDE duly folded.
After the band split Brent Woods replaced Steve Stevens in the VINCE NEIL BAND. Hannah set up his own adult film production studio, ironically winning an adult video award for "Best music in a Feature" in 2002.
A lavish, three disc set entitled 'The Wasted Years', released by RLS Records in 2004 comprised previously unreleased tracks, demos and live material. Included would be the song 'Crash Diet' composed by Wes Arkeen and Axl Rose of GUNS N' ROSES. To back this release, Drew Hannah, Brent Woods, Marc Simon and Jimmy Darby reunited for live work.
In August 2009 Brent Woods formed part of ex-WARRANT singer JANI LANE's live band.
