Believed by many to be the heaviest band ever, simply by warrant of the deliberate use of such low end sound frequencies as to spontaneously trigger unwelcome bowel movements. SUNNO))), describing themselves as a musical homage to Drone godfathers EARTH, comprise Greg Anderson of GOATSNAKE and BURNING WITCH's Stephen O'Malley. SUNN O))) more than made their presence felt with the subterranean rumblings of the 1999 demo session 'The Grimrobe Tapes'. The 200 album 'OO Void' issued by Rise Above and produced by the esteemed KYUSS veteran Scott Reeder, despite numbering only four tracks clocked in at nearly an hour of distorted bass reliant drone.

During 2000 guitarist Stephan O'Malley would join forces with bassist James Plotkin, a veteran of such esteemed acts as OLD, REGURGITATION, SCORN and ATOMSMASH, vocalist Alan Dubin of OLD and MANBYRD drummer Tim Wyskida to found KHANATE for an eponymous album.

The five track minimalist 'Flight Of The Behemoth' would be produced by Masami Akita, better known as the mentor of Japanese avantgarde Industrialists MERZBOW.

Both O'Malley and Anderson also operate THORR'S HAMMER. Anderson, alongside vocalist Eric Wagner of TROUBLE, ex-THE OBSESSED, ST. VITUS, SPIRIT CARAVAN guitarist Wino and FOO FIGHTERS mixer Nick Raskulinecz. would form part of a one off PROBOT band assembled by FOO FIGHTERS mainman Dave Grohl for a live performance of the track 'My Tortured Soul' on 28th January at the MTV studios in New York City.

SUNN 0)))'s 2004 album 'White2', including lyrics taken from the ancient Sanskrit text 'Shrimad Bhagavatam', featured guest vocalist Attila Csihar, of MAYHEM, TORMENTOR and ABORYM repute. Later that year SUNN 0))) would reveal plans for a collaboration with BORIS given the working band title of ALTAR.

On 9th December SUNN O))) recorded an all new track entitled 'Candlewolf Of The Golden Chalice'. This nineteen and a half minute epic would be commissioned by the late John Peel for his BBC Radio One show. Musicians featured on this session comprised Stephen O'Malley on guitar and harmonium, Greg Anderson on guitar and Moog, Rex Ritter on Moog, Tony Sylvester on Harmonium and Sruti Box with Edwin Poncey on Tamboura. The band made plans to release this track subsequently as a tour only 12" single.

In early 2005 the band contributed to the Townsend Avalanche Music IMMORTAL tribute album entitled 'Epimythion - Tribute to Immortal' with their rendition of 'Cursed Realms Of The Winterdemons'. SUNNO))) recordings in May saw the inclusion of XASTHUR and TWILIGHT guitarist Malefic on the tracks 'Candlegoat' and 'Cry For The Weeper'. Quite incredibly it would be revealed that Xasthur had recorded his vocal lines for a track entitled 'Bathory Erzsébet' esconced in a coffin, in full corpse paint whilst inside a 1978 Cadillac hearse. This sixteen minute song, built on a slowed down BATHORY riff, featured no guitar whatsoever and keyboards from engineer Count Mathis Schneeberger.

West Coast touring in October saw SUNNO))) supported by BORIS and THRONES. John Wiese guested on the 2006 CATTLE DECAPITATION album 'Karma.Bloody.Karma'.

In early 2007 Greg Anderson announced BURIAL CHAMBER TRIO, a heavyweight Doom union with Hungarian vocalist Attila Csihar, of TORMENTOR, MAYHEM, ABORYM, KEEP OF KALESSIN, KOROG and PLASMA POOL.
