Biography
SUBSTANCE D evolved in Los Angeles during 1991, at first billed as MOTHERFOLKERS and featuring CHINA singer Eric St. Michaels. This band switched title to BLACK then, with Michaels departure, SUBSTANCE D. Guitarist Michael Parnin's day job is as sound engineer for artists such as MARILYN MANSON, COAL CHAMBER and LIMP BIZKIT. Vocalist Todd Chaisson is ex-Glam Rock act TUFF, where he went under the pseudonym of Todd Chase.
The band debuted with a 1997 set 'Black' for F.A.D. Records. SUBSTANCE D signed to Germany's Noise Records and the group's second album, entitled 'Addictions', was recorded at Grand Master Recorders, Westlake Audio and Blacksound studios.
SUBSTANCE D man Todd Michael 'T' Burr, a scene veteran of eigties outfits NINJA and ROCKNEE, would join up with TUFF for live work in August of 2001. Burr also operated with a swathe of other acts including FASTBACK, THE DRUTS, FREEDOM UNDER X-RAY, AGROKULCHER and tribute band MÖTLEY PRIEST.
