Biography

SILENT RAGE debuted on the 'Pure Rock' compilation album with 'Make It Or Break It', SILENT RAGE enjoyed instant attention from fans of good, solid American Hard Rock by making a strong impact with the ensuing debut album that enjoyed strong, steady sales on import in Europe. Of course, it could only help the band's cause that the 'Shattered Hearts' album was produced by PAUL SABU, who also had a hand in co-writing a few of the songs. Sabu enjoyed a good reputation for himself on the strength of his own records in the past, even though his popularity was never reflected with massive record sales.

The group was picked up by KISS frontman GENE SIMMONS following the success of the debut album and signed to his RCA distributed Simmons Records label. At this juncture, Simmons attempted to get the group to change their moniker to the HUNGER or EIGHT BALL. The latter title was something of an obsession with Gene, he'd seemingly tried to get the Japanese group E-Z-O to take on that handle too! The Californian's went for the HUNGER, before finding out that it had already taken. Ultimately, they reverted to SILENT RAGE after problems encountered with Chameleon Records had subsided.

For the second release the band underwent a line-up change with drummer Jerry Grant being replaced by ex-WHITE TIGER drummer Brian James (nee Brian James Fox). Vocalist Timmy James Reilly changed his name to JESSE DAMON. The 'Don't Touch Me There' record of 1990 (dreadfully packaged in a cover depicting Damon's muscular torso) was produced, on the advice of Simmons, by Paul Sabu. Gene seemingly liked the chemistry the team had on the first album. Simmons also thought it might be a good idea to cover ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA's 'Can't Get Her Out Of My Head'. The songwriting partnership established by Damon and Simmons proved to be a welcome two way street for the singer, the SILENT RAGE man garnering composition credits on both the KISS albums 'Revenge' and 'Psycho Circus'.

After over a decades hiatus SILENT RAGE returned in 2001 announcing plans for a new album for the Z Records label. Hawkins, Curcio and Damon all participated in recording. Meantime Z Records would re-issue both earlier albums. JESSE DAMON issued a solo album 'The Hand That Rocks' in November of 2002, continueing the tradition set by SILENT RAGE by having the album not only including a GENE SIMMONS co-composition 'Everybody Loves Somebody' but also having the whole affair produced by PAUL SABU.

In July of 2004 JESSE DAMON scooped the 'Rock Artist of the Year' award at the South Bay Music Awards Show held at the Hermosa Beach Play House Theatre in Hermosa Beach, California. SILENT RAGE would perform on the night with Damon forming up an all star band, including ex-ANTHRAX singer NEIL TURBIN, to close off the evening. In December the band began preperations for a fourth album.
