Biography

REDEMPTION was a 2001 studio project endeavour engineered by guitarist Nick Van Dyk. Also involved would be vocalists Ray Alder of FATES WARNING and ENGINE and STEEL PROPHET and TARAXACUM man Rick Mythiasin. Collaborating in the sessions would be drummers Jason Rollo of SYMPHONY X and Mark Zonder of FATES WARNING and WARLORD as well as guitarist Bernie Versailles from ENGINE and AGENT STEEL. Session musicians include guitarist Joel Decatur and bass player Chris Roy of Progressive Metal band READING ZERO.

For a live appearance at the Atlanta 'ProgPower' festival REDEMPTION pulled in Corey Brown, of MAGNITUDE 9 and SECTION 16, as lead vocalist for their set. REDEMPTION enrolled singer Ray Alder, a well known figure from leading Progressive Metal band FATES WARNING, in September 2004. Surfacing in July 2005 through Massacre Records in Europe and Sensory Records in the USA, 'The Fullness Of Time' also saw a Brazilian release, this variant adding a cover version of FAITH NO MORE's 'The Real Thing'.

In February 2006 REDEMPTION announced the recruitment of PRYMARY and CHAIN.EXE bassist Sean Andrews. The group signed with Inside Out Music in December for release of the album 'The Origins Of Ruin'. Ambitiously this collection featured cover versions of TORI AMOS' 'Precious Things' and UFO' 'Love To Love'. That same month both Ray Alder and Nicholas Van Dyk guested on the song 'Broken Road' for Italian act ELDRITCH's 'Blackenday' album.

The band signed up keyboard player Greg Hosharian in February 2007. REDEMPTION partnered with INTO ETERNITY and headliners DREAM THEATER for US shows in July and August. However, Nicolas van Dyk was unable to participate in several of these shows, due to his "day job", and Sean Entrikin of PRYMARY duly filled in.

REDEMPTION released a concert DVD, 'Frozen In The Moment: Live In Atlanta", in February 2009 containing a five-camera, high-definition shoot of the band's 'ProgPower USA VIII' festival appearance in Atlanta, Georgia in October 2007.

The band's September 2009 album 'Snowfall On Judgment Day' featured DREAM THEATER singer James LaBrie duetting with Ray Alder on the track 'Another Day Dies'.
