Biography
Formed by ex-CANDY guitarist GILBY CLARKE. KILL FOR THRILLS also featured Jason Nesmith (son of MONKEES member Mike Nesmith) and the erstwhile DAMN YANKEES (not the Ted Nugent handed band of the same name!) duo of former DECRY man Todd Muscat on bass (the brother of FASTER PUSSYCAT's Brent Muscat) and drummer David Scott.
After debuting with the 1990 'Commercial Suicide' mini album on the World Of Hurt label KILL FOR THRILLS offered up the 'Dynamite From Nightmare Land' album, which was produced by Ric Browde, with some tracks handled by the late Vic Maile. Ex-CANDY vocalist KYLE VINCENT added additional vocals. KILL FOR THRILLS was a relatively short-lived exercise and Gilby soon put a brand new band together, the BLACKOUTS.
Nesmith formed BLOOD FROM A STONE in Los Angeles with ex-patriot Brits ex-THE QUIREBOYS members bassist Nigel Mogg and guitarist Guy Griffin along with former CHEAP N' NASTY and MICHAEL MONROE drummer Joey De Pompei. Nesmith and Mogg would then create the NANCY BOYS in 1996.
Clarke went on to win more than his fair share of 15 minutes of fame by replacing IZZY STRADLIN in GUNS N' ROSES, after which he pursued a solo career. The guitarist also hooked up with Slash, who invited his former GUNS N' ROSES colleague to join his solo side project SLASH'S SNAKEPIT. Clarke contributed to the recording of the 'It's Five O' Clock Somewhere' album. Clarke hitched up with yet another high profile platinum act when he formed up part of the new look HEART for a mammoth run of 2003 Summer shows. Nesmith helped to form THE BEAUTIES. Muscat duly rejoined JUNKYARD.
GILBY CLARKE was in the news again in March 2006 as he revealed SUPERNOVA the brand applied to the all star band unit assembled for the second season of reality TV show 'Rock Star'. The core band comprised Clarke, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer TOMMY LEE and former FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, METALLICA bassist and current ECHOBRAIN and VOIVOD member Jason Newsted on bass.
