Biography

HAIR OF THE DOG is a much vaunted rootsy Hard Rock act that has certainly bucked all trends to attain popular appeal. Although anchored in Los Angeles for many years, the band was forged in Nashville by Michigan natives guitarist John 'Racer' Sepetys, bassist Brian 'Boot' Saputo in union with Kansas born frontman Ryan Cook.

The bands debut eponymous 1997 record would include a track 'Cadillac Jack', which spread like wildfire across the radio stations of the American mid West. Promoting the album would find the band almost without respite on the road for nearly two years which included dates with RATT in 1997. With these gigs completed HAIR OF THE DOG parted ways with drummer Johnny Evans and enlisted a temporary stand in for shows with CINDERELLA in 1998. A constant diet of touring aided the quartet's cause on a national basis.

HAIR OF THE DOG, upon the recommendation of CINDERELLA's Fred Coury, recruited drummer Mike Dupke for their second album. The resulting 'Rise' album, produced by Michael Wagener, would serve to solidify their fan base and spread the message further. On the live front the band supported SKID ROW during 2000.

As HAIR OF THE DOG's reputation grew the debut would be re-issued in America by Spitfire Records. Following touring as guests to MOTȪRHEAD fate would deal a bitter blow to curtail the bands progress though as in February 2001 Sepetys announced his resignation from the band. Apparently Sepetys had been struggling for years with an incurable disease known as 'Focal Hand Dystonia' which was gradually decreasing his playing abilities.

For gigs in the latter half of 2001 HAIR OF THE DOG pulled in TUFF bass player Brian Saunders to act as rhythm guitarist. During 2002 Ryan Cook acted as guest on BON JOVI guitarist RICHIE SAMBORA's new album, lending vocals to the track 'Turn On Me'.

Drummer Mike Dupke joined the touring band of guitarist ERIC SARDINAS and subsequently enrolled into the ranks of W.A.S.P. in May 2006.
