An ambitious Metal-edged Progressive Rock project mentored by MAGELLAN's Trent Gardner and involving DREAM THEATER men John Petrucci, Derek Sherinian and James LaBrie, EXPLORERS CLUB also featured the elite talents of MR. BIG's Billy Sheehan, MISSING PERSONS drummer extraordinaire Terry Bozzio, ROYAL HUNT vocalist D.C. Cooper, MAGELLAN's Wayne Gardner, DEATH / TESTAMENT / KONKHRA guitarist JAMES MURPHY, YES man STEVE HOWE, DALI DILEMMA members Matt Bradley and Matt Guillory and CAIRO's Bret Douglas.

The project was inspired by YES' 'Union' album and launched by Trent Gardner alongside Magna Carta Records' Peter Morticelli and Mike Varney. Across the Progressive Rock world the EXPLORERS CLUB debut had a massive impact.

The success of the first album soon led to confirmation of a sophomore EXPLORERS CLUB venture, finally realised in August of 2002 with the issue of 'Raising The Mammoth'. The cast would comprise familiar notables such as Trent Gardner, James LaBrie and Terry Bozzio, as well as DREAM THEATER bassist John Myung, erstwhile MEGADETH guitarist MARTY FRIEDMAN, KANSAS men STEVE WALSH and KERRY LIVGREN, Gary Wehrkamp of SHADOW GALLERY.
