BIG BANG BABIES
BIG BANG BABIES
Biography
Los Angeles, all blonde Glam band that provided the springboard for one of Glam Rock's most active guitarists ex-EMPIRE man Keri Kelli. Drummer Freddie Ferrin was previously with SYANIDE KICK, bassist Tweety Boyd had affiliations with PUNCHBOX and ADVENTURES OF LILY whilst singer Kit Ashley held FURR BURGER credentials. The band debuted with an eponymous album issued through its own Big Bang Babies Music imprint. The follow up, 'Black Market, arrived on Swollen Records in 1994 and would provide a pleasant surprise for fans by hosting an unlisted extra three "secret" tracks. Percussion work for these sessions would be split between Freddie Ferrin and Keith Allen with keyboards donated by Brent Jeffers.
Following the break up of the group Keri Kelli worked with a rejuvenated PRETTY BOY FLOYD, recording demos with them as recently as December 1996 in addition to his own band RUBBER. Later activities found the industrious Kelli in DAD'S PORNO MAG, touring with RATT before joining WARRANT then SLASH'S SNAKEPIT. Kelli would even re-join PRETTY BOY FLOYD briefly for a 2001 Japanese tour. Kit Ashley formed a 60's influenced outfit called 98 UGLY GIRLS.
The 1999 compilation '3 Chords And The Truth' boasts a remix by STREETS guitarist Mike Slamer. BIG BANG BABIES drummer Keith Allen re-emerged in 2001 as a member of HANDSOME DEVIL. A reunited BIG BANG BABIES got into the festive spirit during 2004 by donating the track 'Winter Wonderland' to the Perris Records seasonal compilation 'The Glam That Stole Christmas Vol. 1'. That same year it would be learned Kit Ashley, who had been on the European tour circuit fronting "Cow Punk" act CUSTOM MADE SCARE for two albums under the stage handle 'Charlie', had cut a solo album 'Songs Of Love And Drinking'.
Keri Kelli joined the ALICE COOPER band in March 2006.
