Biography

A Los Angeles Hard Rock band managed by Wendy Dio, wife of BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW frontman Ronnie James Dio, BADD BOYZ were founded by erstwhile ROUGH CUTT vocalist PAUL SHORTINO with bassist Sean McNabb after the pair had left QUIET RIOT in 1989.

The duo allied themselves with guitarist MITCH PERRY and drummer Rich Carlson to record material that would only ever get to the demo stage.

Perry had quite a pedigree before joining BADD BOYZ as the guitarist replaced YNGWIE MALMSTEEN in STEELER before stints with TALAS, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and HEAVEN. He also added guitar contributions to KEEL's 'The Right To Rock' album and FASTER PUSSYCAT.

BADD BOYZ had actually started life as a quartet that included second guitarist Mike Guy, previously a member of SHARK ISLAND and FIRE, but he soon departed to briefly join HOUSE OF LORDS. McNabb as coincidence would have it, joined HOUSE OF LORDS long after Guy had quit, being in the Greg Giuffria led group for third album 'Demons Down'.

McNabb and Perry stuck together to form 7% SOLUTION with XYZ drummer Paul Monroe and ex NIGHTFALL vocalist Ralph Saenz to record demos during 1993. Saenz would later join L.A. GUNS. Shortino issued solo product before rejoining his erstwhile colleagues in ROUGH CUTT. Shortino released a further solo album, using German musicians, during 1997.

1998 saw the release on Pulse Records of a MITCH PERRY album ''Better Late Than Never', in actual fact a collection of BADD BOYZ and 7% SOLUTION demos. The 2000 reunion of ROUGH CUTT found McNabb in the ranks alongside Shortino.
