Biography

Following the demise of ARMOURED SAINT, as vocalist John Bush departed to join ANTHRAX, founder members and brothers guitarist Phil Sandoval and drummer Gonzo Sandoval founded LIFE AFTER DEATH. The band's initial line-up comprised the two Sandovals, vocalist Jack Emerick, ex-FOREVER , FOREPLAY and WARRIOR bassist Ray Burke and second guitarist John Goodwin, a former member of RHOADS. After a debut demo and heavy touring schedule both Phil Sandoval and Goodwin departed. New recruits were Terry Williams and Giovanni Santos. This revised line-up gigged harder still but within a year had opted to tone down their previously more over the top metallic sound to a more traditional Hard Rock feel.

In late 1994 LIFE AFTER DEATH recorded a five track demo featuring the songs 'Hard times', 'Red Light', 'My Life', 'Mother' and 'Don't Believe A Word' after which the band undertook further live dates but under the assumed name of STIKMAN.

LIFE AFTER DEATH's debut album featured cover versions of THIN LIZZY's 'Don't Believe A Word' and CREAM's 'Sunshine Of Your Love'.

ARMORED SAINT reformed in 1999. Burke turned up as guest on former IMPELLITERRI vocalist BOB ROCK's solo album 'Rage Of Creation'.

Gonzo and guitarist Phil Sandoval united once more with Jack Emrick and Ray Burke to reform LIFE AFTER DEATH in late 2002. The Summer of 2004 found this quartet acyive Blues outfit YO DIDDLEY, putting in California club shows. Meantime LIFE AFTER DEATH got back into swing, donating a cover rendition of 'Eye Of The Beholder' to a METALLICA tribute album 'Metallic Attack' issued through Big Deal Records and commencing recording of a second album.
