Biography
Joey Jordison, drummer with the renowned Nu-Metal crew SLIPKNOT, would firm up details of his extracurricular MURDERDOLLS in early 2002. Featuring Jordison on guitar MURDERDOLLS would be fronted by Wednesday 13 of North Carolina 'Horror Metal' act FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS FROM PLANET 13 and include the TEEZE, ROUGHHOUSE, LOVESICK, DOPE, REJECTS and STATIC-X guitarist Tripp Eisen, bassist Erik Griffin and drummer Ben Graves. Jordison's project would set themselves up for a 2002 release through Roadrunner Records. A promotional video for the track 'Dead In Hollywood' would be graced by a cameo appearance from arch shock Rocker MARILYN MANSON, Jordison having previously struck up a friendship with the star having previously remixed Manson's 'Fight Song' for the 'Resident Evil' movie soundtrack.
The band took the project into the live arena, initially confirming a date in August at the Japanese 'Summer Sonic' festival. North American dates commenced on July 30th at the San Diego Epicenter. However, Tripp Eisen would forgo these shows with DOPE guitarist Acey Slade filling in. MURDERDOLLS and PAPA ROACH hooked up for an extensive run of European shows throughout October and November. Into 2003 the band would act as guests to the DEFTONES's Sydney and Melbourne Australian gigs in January. 2003 also saw the release of the 'Love At First Fright' DVD, comprising live and backstage footage from the previous year's world tour. MURDERDOLLS grabbed a coup by being confirmed as support act to IRON MAIDEN's summer European shows.
MURDERDOLLS became the latest in a very long line of Rock bands to cover BILLY IDOL's 'White Wedding' as a new single to coincide with their appearance at the Castle Donington 'Download' festival. The band also united with STONE SOUR for a joint UK tour in July. Frontman WEDNESDAY 13 undertook a solo 'Graveyard A Go-Go' tour of the UK in March of 2004, utilising musicians from Florida's DEATH BECOMES YOU as his backing band. In April MURDERDOLLS guitarist Acey Slade launched a web site for his new project TRASH LIGHT VISION. He would also set out on the road as fill in guitarist for AMEN.
During June MURDERDOLLS bassist Eric Griffin collaborated with NAPOLEON BLOWNAPARTS frontman Ajax Garcia to record an unlikely cover of CINDERELLA's 'Nobody's Fool' for inclusion on a tribute album devoted to 80's power ballads. This union would be furthered when Griffin began gigging as a live member of NAPOLEON BLOWNAPARTS. He would also enroll into the ROXY SAINT band for European touring and in December found hooked up with Mike Duda from W.A.S.P., Johnny Kelly of TYPE O NEGATIVE and Mayuko Okai from the DIZZY REED band for a batch of HAPPENIN' HARRY midwest shows.
Meantime, WEDNESDAY 13 would totally overhaul his solo band, bringing in guitarist Ikky of FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS FROM PLANET 13, Kid Kid on bass, formerly lead vocalist and founder of LUNATIC CANDY KREEP, with Ghastly on the drums. This new look band toured Europe in November and then Japan into 2005 on the 'Look What The Bats Dragged In' dates.
On 10th February 2005 MURDERDOLLS guitarist Tripp Eisen, under his real name of Tod Rex Salvador, was arrested in California on charges of "crimes against children." Orange County Police apprehended the 39 year old musician as he was found asleep in a car with a young girl. Salvador was charged with committing a lewd act with a child and was released after posting $100,000 bail. The arrest came after the guitarist was allegedly involved in an incident in January when he met a 14 year-old girl from Sayreville, New Jersey through the internet. Reports claimed he journeyed from Pennsylvania and sexually assaulted her in an Old Bridge shopping center. Salvador was charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, luring to entice a minor through the internet and endangering the welfare of a child. Apparently part of his ruse to lure the minor was to state that, under the chat room alias of "Groverygodadat" and the heading "never married male looking for female", he was impersonating Tripp Eisen.
MURDERDOLLS drummer Ben Graves hooked up with Industrial Metal band NOCTURNE for US touring throughout April and May of 2005. Australian and Japanese dates were conducted in late September, after which Graves manned the drums for DOPE's Japanese gigs in November.
