Originally centred on guitarist John Oster, by day a school teacher, and drummer Cory Valdez the beginnings of the Davis, California based PSYPHERIA can be tracked back to the 1991 act ENTHRONED. Various demos ensued before Lyle Livingston came onboard as lead vocalist during December of 1993. In this guise ENTHRONED cut the demos 'Gears' and 'Absence Of Life'. However, prior to recording of the next session 'Thy Flesh Consumed' Livingston was discovered to have nodes on his vocal chords and instructed by doctors to cease singing. Not wishing to give up the band the former singer shifted his role to that of keyboard player as ENTHRONED pulled in Rob Martin on vocals and bass, subsequently recording a further demo tape 'Gothic Disturbance'.

April of 1997 brought about the departure of Martin though. Undaunted, PSYPHERIA drafted Tom Persons of PESSIMIST and SADISTIC TORMENT repute on bass. He in turn would manoevre to guitar when OSMIUM veteran Rob Lumbre joined as bass player in February of 1998.

Although the 1998 'Gothic Disturbance' album was recorded as a quartet of Tom Persons on lead vocals and bass, guitarist John Oster, Lyle Livingston on keyboards and Cory Valdez on the drums this line up did not remain stable. Both Persons and Lumbre quit to forge their own act MUCUS MEMBRANE in late 2000. Making up the numbers PSYPHERIA's roll call was brought back up to strength with the incorporation of vocalist / bassist Adam Roberts of THE NEW PLAGUE and guitarist Mike Hurley.

Lyle Livingston is also operative as keyboard player for DRAGONLORD.
