Unveiled during August 2007, ARKAEA featured the high profile cast of FEAR FACTORY members Christian Olde Wolbers, on guitar, and Raymond Herrera, on drums, alongside the THREAT SIGNAL pairing of vocalist Jon Howard and bassist Pat Kavanaugh. The quartet swiftly signed with Koch Records for their debut album offering, recorded at Temple Studios in Chatsworth, California with engineer Jeremy Blair.

ARKAEA made its live debut on 15th January 2009 at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, California sharing the stage with GOD FORBID. The band released its debut album, 'Years In The Darkness', on 14th July via E1 Music. The tracks were produced by Christian Olde Wolbers, mixed by producer Terry Date, then mastered at Sterling Sound by Ted Jensen.
