SOUL EMBRACED, a grinding Death Metal band forged during 1998, was formulated by guitarist Rocky Gray and drummer David Sroczynski, both erstwhile members of SHREDDED CORPSE, having featured on the 1996 EP 'Exhumed And Molested'. The first incarnation of SOUL EMBRACED cut one track for an inclusion on a compilation album prior to splintering when Gray joined the higher profile Christian Thrash act LIVING SACRIFICE. Sroczynski duly joined THY PAIN.

In 1999 Gray resurrected the name, enrolling vocalist Chad Moore and LIVING SACRIFICE drummer Lance Garvin. A 1999 EP 'Fleshless' preceded the full length 2001 album 'For The Incomplete' on Clenched Fist Records. 'This is My Blood' was delivered by Solid State the same year with a revamped version of 'For The Incomplete', clad in new artwork with extra tracks, being issued by Blood And Ink the following year. For live work SOUL EMBRACED employed MINDRAGE guitarist John Lecompt and ESOCHARIS and LIVING SACRIFICE bassist Arthur Green. SOUL EMBRACED would also feature on a LIVING SACRIFICE tribute album, offering their rendition of 'Truth Solution'.

Gray subsequently found himself thrust into the international spotlight as drummer for multi-platinum act EVANESCENCE. John Lecomt would also join him in the same band. One of SOUL EMBRACED's numbers, 'My Tourniquet', would be re-worked by EVANESCENCE for their massively successful 'Fallen' album.

A 2003 SOUL EMBRACED album 'Immune', produced by Barry Pointer and recorded at at Pointers Palace in Little Rock, Arkansas, emerged in February through Solid State. Despite the escalating success of EVANESCENCE Rocky Gray resurrected SOUL EMBRACED during late 2006. The reformed band featured two new members, Jack Wiese on guitar and Jeff Bowie on bass.

In mid 2009 it was learned that four founding members of EVANESCENCE, guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray, had joined forces with high profile 'American Idol' contestant Carly Smithson and former METHODS OF MAYHEM bassist Marty O'Brien to form a new band called THE FALLEN. The new group's name alluded to EVANESCENCE's 2003 major label debut album, 'Fallen', which by 2009 had sold over seven million copies in the USA. Smithson had previously sang EVANESCENCE's 'Bring Me to Life' during the 2008 'Idols Live' US tour.
