Biography

"Necro-Doom" out of Birmingham. MISTRESS is not only noted for its individual brand of Doom but for their membership's myriad of other project bands of diverse such as SALLY, ANAAL NATHRAKH, FROST, DEADSUNRISING, FROG and FUKPIG. The group was founded in late 1999 as a trio of guitarist Misery, drummer Migg (a.k.a. Mick Kenney) and a singer known in polite company as Dave Cunt. This trio cut the quaintly titled 'Fuck Off' demo, adding bassist Earl from Hardcore merchants AKBAR in April 2000. Drunken from CREEP then took the bass mantle before the four string position for a sophomore demo 'Lord Worm' was handed over to Dirty Von Arse (a.k.a. Darren Donovan), also known as drummer for both KATASTROPHY WIFE and SALLY.

A sizable contingent of MISTRESS perform with "89 Grindcore act FUKPIG. Migg is drummer for Black Metal bands FROST and ANAAL NATHRAKH and also operates the experimental project PROFESSOR FATE. The drummer also plys his trade with ABOYRM on their 2002 album 'With No Human Intervention' and DISGUST.

MISTRESS signed with Earache Records in mid 2004 for an album billed as 'In Disgust We Trust'. A split 7" with VENOMOUS CONCEPT would also be projected. In July 2005 the band put in an appearance at the 'Dungeonfest 555' festival at The Royal Park Cellars in Leeds. That same month saw the band traversing the UK clubs in alliance with Manchester's BEECHER and Dutch act MALKOVICH.

The Earache Records September 2005 edition of the 'Mistress' re-issue added bonus tracks in covers of METALLICA's 'Whiplash' and TOM WAITS 'Earth Died Screaming'. The 'II: The Chronovisor' re-release added DARKTHRONE's 'In The Shadow Of The Horns' and CROWBAR's 'Like Broken Glass'.

In September 2006 Mick Kenney, in collaboration with NAPALM DEATH's Shane Embury, announced the formation of new label Feto Records. This imprint served as an outlet for Kenney's EXPLODER, featuring MISTRESS bassist Dirty Von Arse as vocalist, and PROFESSOR FATE projects. MISTRESS toured the UK aligned with NECROSIS in November.

The band folded in March 2008, but re-united for a performance at the Birmingham 'Damnation' festival in October 2009.
