Biography

Melodic Rockers based at Birmingham's renowned Rich Bitch Studios and managed by studio co-owner Lind Bruce, DANTE FOX had metamorphosized during September 1989 from KARRIER, a band that had released an album and two singles during 1988 before adding new vocalist Sue Willets. The first DANTE FOX line-up comprised KARRIER men guitarist Tim Manford, bassist Andrew Jenkins and drummer Ray Horton together with keyboard player Tony Penson. Manford, Jenkins and Horton also had been active with EXPRESS.

DANTE FOX actually dissolved shortly after the band was originally started, with Manford joining Brian Tatler's RADIO MOSCOW, but he swiftly returned and DANTE FOX was re-assembled in September of 1989 with new bassist Nick Overfield and drummer Jon Cooksey. Overfield was subsequently replaced by former PATRIOT bassist Bryn Jones.

Having built up a solid reputation for themselves as a live band, and with Willets having contributed backing vocals to Nottingham based WRAITH's 1993 released 'Riot' album, Now And Then Records, having been impressed with the group's demos, signed the group. Just before the release of the 'Under Suspicion' debut album in October 1996 the act was invited the group to appear live at the 'Gods '96' festival in Wigan.

1996 also saw DANTE FOX supporting ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA and further live work with a showing at the Belgian 'Mindview' festival.

Willets added her vocals as guest on the TEN album 'Spellbound'. Follow up 'The Fire Within' was recorded at MadHat Studios, owned by MAGNUM guitarist Tony Clarkin, in February 1998 and featured HARD RAIN keyboard player Paul Hodson and SHY's TONY MILLS on backing vocals. Released in Japan during April 1999, the album included a cover of the STEVIE LANGE hit 'Remember My Name'.

During 2003 DANTE FOX personnel bassist Bryn Jones and keyboard player Alan Dawkins would be announced as being in the studio, apparently working up a new band project with ex-PULSE singer Simon Abbotts. However, this alliance never in fact transpired.

As of 2004 DANTE FOX were working on a third album. The band partnered with VIXEN and GIRLSCHOOL for UK dates in June of 2005, debuting new members, South African guitarist Mike De Jager, a veteran of AL ATKINS band, and bassist Alan Mills, previously a member of tribute band OZZMOSIS. On drums would be Mick Hales, also having worked with the AL ATKINS band and holding local tradition with THE VASELINE RATS, NITEBREED, BORDERLINE, FREEKSHOW and LOST SOULS.

Both Mills and Hales teamed up with EDEN for their inaugural gig held at Maymies night club in Cannock on Friday 27th January 2006. Mills subsequently joined Wolverhampton outfit ALIBI. By April DANTE FOX, having installed new bassist Mike Dagnall of HOPE AND GLORY and the MAX BACON band, would be plotting a new studio album, 'Under The Seven Skies' at Wolverhampton's Mad Hat Studios, as a trio of Willets, Manford and Hales. Keyboard player Roman Wieckowski was installed in June.

Mick Hales exited in August 2008.
