Biography

Early seventies Birmingham Rock band that rose from the ashes of the formative incarnation of JUDAS PRIEST. BULLION was forged by ex-JUDAS PRIEST men guitarist Ernie Chataway, bassist Bruno Stapenhill and former EXTREEM and BLUE CONDITION drummer Pete Boot. BULLION was fronted by ex-BOBCATS vocalist Dave Cowling. The band added second guitarist Paul West to the line up but BULLION's career went into flux with the departure of Cowling.

Boot, Stapenhill and West created SUICIDE with brothers vocalist Rick Harold and guitarist Dave Harold. Before long BULLION was reformed by Stapenhill, West, Chataway and ex-FLYING HAT BAND drummer Barry 'Spence' Scrannage. With Boot returning from BUDGIE after a year's stay Scrannage was ousted (later turning up in THE STARFIGHTERS, the formative OZZY OSBOURNE band and THE ALLIANCE).

The Harold brothers and Boot created SWEATY BETTY then DARKSTAR but not before the singer adopted the new name of Rick Staines. Stapenhill and Boot later founded LION.

Stapenhill was back in action during 1999 for a German tour as part of HOLE IN THE HEAD GANG alongside former LION guitarist Harry Tonks and the perennial Pete Boot.
