Biography

BLIND FURY arose from the ashes of Newcastle upon Tyne Metallers SATAN catering for the band's new found, mellower direction with new vocalist Lou Taylor, who had replaced BLITZKRIEG man Brian Ross. BLIND FURY, had been the moniker of one of Taylor's previous outfits, the singer having also fronted SARACEN (not the well known Deryshire act of the same title).

The band was initiated in London by ANGEL WITCH veteran Kevin Heybourne, assembling a line-up with Taylor featuring a rhythm section comprising MARQUIS DE SADE bassist Peter Gordelier and drummer Steve Coleman. The first BLIND FURY debuted live on 21st May 1983 at the Catford Saxon Tavern. However, this union soon fell apart, Heybourne resurrecting ANGEL WITCH, taking Gordelier with him.

Taylor soldiered on, relocating back North to put together a second version of the band for the 1985 album 'Out Of Reach'. SATAN fans did not appreciate the change in direction though, and, after one album for Roadrunner, the band promptly reverted back to SATAN, ousting Taylor in the process. Following a brief tenure with PERSIAN RISK the singer later formed TOUR DE FORCE in 1988 alongside guitarists Fred Avesque, ex-TROY and DRIVESHAFT, and Andy Warnock, bassist Mike Antoine and drummer Gary Burfort. TOUR DE FORCE, however, never recorded. Taylor has long since become one of London's leading Rock club DJ's.

Back in Newcastle, after the demise of SATAN, Steve Ramsey and Graeme English partnered with erstwhile SABBAT vocalist Martin Walkyier and formed the successful Folk Metal band SKYCLAD.
