Biography

THREE MAN ARMY was a Hard Rock act established during 1971 bu the Gurvitz siblings, vocalist / guitarist Adrian and bassist Paul, in league with SPOOKY TOOTH drummer Mike Kellie. The Gurvit's had just disbanded GUN and quickly assembled this new unit to debut with the 1971 opus 'Third Of A Lifetime' on Pegasus Records. These sessions featured none other than Jazz legend Buddy Miles as studio guest. A switch in drummers saw Tony Newman, an ex-member of SOUNDS INCORPORATED, DAVID BOWIE the JEFF BECK band and live session man for THE HOLLIES, recruited for a brace of 1973 albums for the Reprise label, 'Three Man Army' and 'Three Man Army Two'. THREE MAN ARMY's final album, 'Mahesha', saw issue in 1974.

The Gurvitz brothers disbanded THREE MAN ARMY and forged an all new trio entitled the BAKER GURVITZ ARMY in union with CREAM drummer Ginger Baker. In subsequent years the Gurvitz brothers played on two albums by ex-MOODY BLUES drummer Graeme Edge, 'Paradise Ballroom' and 'Kick Off Your Muddy Boots'. Adrian Gurvitz released two solo albums, 'Sweet Vendetta' in 1979 and 'Il Assanio' in 1980, and another in 1982 for Micky Most's RAK label entitled 'Classic'.
