THE GREEDIES were borne out of a brief flirtation between members of THIN LIZZY and the SEX PISTOLS, which produced the Christmas hit 'A Merry Jingle' in 1979 and the obligatory 'Top Of The Pops' appearance.

At the band's sporadic live gigs they were billed more succinctly as THE GREEDY BASTARDS. Other fly by night members of the live band were CHRIS SPEDDING, guitarist GARY MOORE, ex RAINBOW bassist Jimmy Bain and BOOMTOWN RATS vocalist Bob Geldof.

THE GREEDY BASTARDS were assembled by the various musicians involved in an attempt to perform live and for the musicians to get their hands on any takings rather than managers, promoters and agents. Gigs comprised of THIN LIZZY, SEX PISTOLS and BOOMTOWN RATS numbers.

The song was later covered by successful Danish Metal band PRETTY MAIDS.
