Biography

THE CLAN DESTINED, based in Nottingham, is a "Pagan creative collective" spearheaded by the high profile figures of singer and lyricist Martin Walkyier, a man holding a tradition with groundbreaking acts SABBAT and SKYCLAD, in union with Norway's Iscariah (Stian Smørholm), a veteran of extreme Metal concerns such as IMMORTAL, KAOS LOGIC, ENCHANTED, WURDULAK, AMOK, GRIMFIST and NECROPHAGIA. Guitarist Tony Wildwood holds credits with DARK EMBRACE and THE ENCHANTED. Second guitarist Lee Cassidy is a member of Brighton technical Death Metal band SUBSYST.

Walkyier, whilst busying himself fronting RETURN TO THE SABBAT, had spent much of 2003 and 2004 plotting THE CLAN DESTINED as a unique concept in band ventures, aiming to assemble "an international gathering of heathen free-thinkers from all corners of the world".

THE CLAN DESTINED committed to initial demo recordings, entitled 'In The Big Ending...', in August of 2004. Included would be a cover version of JULIAN COPE's 'T.C. Lethbridge'.

2005 opened with the online posting of a track entitled 'Swinging Like Judas', featuring vocal contributions from Mark Xes and Ema Z. Strange of SINNERGOD. New demos would see guitarist Doggen Foster and keyboard player Welbourn Tekh of SPIRITUALISED sessioning. Unfortunately, April brought ill news as band members Iscariah, Kara Sultan, Tony Wildwood, Lee Cassidy and Emily Dolan Davies apparently all left en masse. The parting of ways would be a bitter one, with the exiting personnel issuing a stinging statement, accussing Martin Walkyier of "unprofessional behavior and defamation of character" toward Iscariah. However, as it transpired, EP recordings undertaken at Andy Sneap's backstage studios, with the aid of JAMES MURPHY, had not even featured the musicians that delivered the press release. Reports also emerged that Iscariah had departed some months before.

As it transpired, Iscariah had re-activated his Thrash / Black Metal band DEAD TO THIS WORLD, originally initiated in Bergen, Norway during 2002. On guitar would be another member of THE CLAN DESTINED, Tony Wildwood under the stage name 'Divra Xul'. Demos were recorded on the 23rd of April 2005 in Voltage Studios Bradford. Meantime, Walkyier was announced as guesting on Irish Folk Metal band CRUACHAN's 2005 opus.

Unfortunately, Martin Walkyier decided not to return to music during mid 2005. He would make this decision public in April of 2006. However, it was soon after learned that he was set to feature as guest singer on the track 'God Among Men' featured on all female Greek Black Metal band ASTARTE's 'Demonized' album.

Guitarist Lee Cassidy joined SON OF SCIENCE, the technical Metal band formed by former INTENSE and DRAGONFORCE bassist Adrian Lambert.

Walkyier returned to the scene with a high profile SABBAT reunion tour.
