Scouse vocalist Dave Lloyd formed 2AM after his stint with German guitar guru ULI JON ROTH's American tour. Previously Lloyd had been vocalist with NUTZ and RAGE. 2AM's original line-up featured former EXPORT drummer Lou Rosentahl and keyboard player John Young and the group offered an inoffensive brand of AOR that gained them something of a cult following in Britain amongst fans of the genre.

2AM opened for CHRIS REA in Europe during 1987 to promote the 'Every Second Counts' album, released through RCA Records, but split during the following year.
