Biography

Following the demise of London based Glamsters TATTOOED LOVE BOYS in 1992 guitarist Nick Singleton and drummer Mick Ransome founded the FIREBYRDS, a seventies, hippy influenced Hard Rock act. Singleton's career had also taken in outfits such as BLACK DOG, RAIDER and CRYWOLF whilst Ransome held prior credits with PRAYING MANTIS.

The debut FIREBYRDS line-up comprised Singleton, Ransome, singer Tony Myers, former RED DOGS guitarist Paul Guerin, ex-DEUCE and WRAITH bass player Steve Dans (a.k.a. 'Rimmo', previously known as Steve Rimmington) and keyboard player Keith Weir. The band played many London gigs, including support slots with BLIND MELON at the Marquee Club and LITTLE ANGELS at Hammersmith Apollo, before changing the line up in 1993. By 1994 Paul Guerin was guitar roadie for UFO's Michael Schenker, , contributing acoustic guitar to Schenker's own album 'Thank You', before joining former THIN LIZZY guitarist Brian Robertson's THE CLAN in 1995. Guerin was back working for Schenker on UFO's 1998 world tour.

The revised FIREBYRDS roster included Singleton and Ransome being joined by singer Bryn Jones, the CRYWOLF and EMPIRE credited guitarist Chris Gyngell, bassist Andy Cooper and keyboard player Matt Raynor. Although the group put in notable supports in the capitol, including Zakk Wylde's PRIDE AND GLORY at the Camden Underworld and THE TEA PARTY at The Garage and the Marquee, the band folded in 1995.

Post FIREBYRDS Gyngell united with VAN DAMNE to cut a 1995 album 'Red Skies'. Ransome became a tour manager whilst Rimmington joined the police force. Both guitarist Paul Guerin and keyboard player Keith Weir resurfaced in February of 2004, having joined THE QUIREBOYS.
