Biography

South London's Pop orientated Hard Rock band 720 was forged during 1980by former members of THE WINDERS, bassist Dave Birch and drummer Paul Edwards, in union with vocalist / guitarist Terry Galloway and guitar player Dave 'Bucket' Colwell. The latter's antecedent acts included SHADY LADY, HOTLINE and ANGEL STREET.

The band and soon garnered press exposure by acting as support to some of OZZY OSBOURNE's first ever November 1980 British tour dates. In January 1981 720 supported THE PRETTY THINGS. April witnessed a union with VARDIS on the 'Heavy Mental' UK nationwide tour. Further live work saw guest spots to STEVE GIBBONS then a headline 'Angels Of Madness' club tour. 720 also supported BLACK SABBATH and GIRLSCHOOL. Demos would be recorded but no commercial product issued.

Galloway was replaced by Andy Barnett (then going by the name 'Andy Marshall'), a former member of Adrian Smith and Dave Murray's URCHIN, THE BROADWAY BRATS, CHEQUERED PAST and MARSHALL FURY.

Post 720 Birch and Edwards forged the NEW TORPEDOS with ex-GIRL singer Phil Lewis. When Lewis quit to join L.A. GUNS in 1985, Birch and Edwards re-recruited their 720 band mates Andy Barnett and Dave Colwell to re-brand the outfit THE TORPEDOS. In successive years Barnett featured with FM and A.S.A.P. whilst Colwell joined BAD COMPANY.
