Biography

John Sloman is widely regarded as an excellent soulful rock vocalist, making his mark internationally by fronting URIAH HEEP. The man's first professional act was TRAPPER with bassist Pino Paladino and drummer John Munroe but Sloman came to the attention of most Rock fans when he recorded with LONE STAR on the Welsh band's Firing On All Six' album before hooking up with Paladino again to demo for CBS Records.

Accompanying his erstwhile LONE STAR colleague guitarist PAUL CHAPMAN the singer would also contribute keyboards to UFO's 1981 album 'The Wild, The Willing And The Innocent'. John eventually formed a new band in Canada where he met URIAH HEEP keyboard player Greg Doucherty and subsequently recorded with URIAH HEEP on the 'Conquest' album. Sloman was also involved with guitarist JOHN SYKES' aborted 'supergroup' BADLANDS alongside WHITESNAKE bassist Neil Murray and drummer John Munroe. BADLANDS soon split following Sykes departure for THIN LIZZY and Murray and Sloman for touring with GARY MOORE.

Following the GARY MOORE tour and live album 'Rockin' Every Night', and even a stint as guitarist / vocalist for PAUL YOUNG, Sloman teamed up with John Regan recording the TODD RUNDGREN produced 'Disappearances Can Be Deceptive' album. The record, cut atUtopia Sound Studios in Woodstock, New York and Terminal 24 Studios in London, featured Palidino, Munroe, GO WEST's Alan Murphy, ex-BAD COMPANY man Greg Dechart and guitarist Shaun Baxter

Sloman later contributed vocals to 1994's 'Metal Christmas' album. The singer re-surfaced in 2003, vocalising on the PRAYING MANTIS album 'Nowhere To Hide' prior to launching an all new studio album 'Dark Matter' through the Majestic Rock label. In mid 2007 Sloman toured the UK opening for WISHBONE ASH with an acoustic set prior to partnering up with MOSTLY AUTUMN for gigs in Holland.
