Biography

POWER QUEST, a Southampton based Symphonic inclined Metal act in the Euro tradition, was borne out of keyboard player Steve Williams departure from London Power Metal act DRAGONHEART (later DRAGONFORCE) in March of 2001. Williams also had prior experience with DOG DAY SUNRISE. Joining him would be former DRAGONHEART and SHADOWKEEP New Zealand born bassist Steve Scott and D.R.S. guitarist Adam Bickers. Joining the new unit would be Sam Totman, also operational as a current member of DRAGONFORCE and Black Metal act DEMONIAC, featuring on a two track 2001 eponymous demo. Session vocals were supplied by Z.P. Theart of DRAGONFORCE.

In April 2002 POWER QUEST pulled in Italian singer Alessio Garavello of ARTHEMIS. A further promotional outing, also self-titled, emerged that same year.

The band increased their Italian contingent with the recruitment of a third guitarist, another ARTHEMIS member Andrea Martongelli, in July. Martongelli was drawn in just in time to contribute guitar solos to the debut album 'Wings Of Forever'. Released in 2002, POWER QUEST's commercial inauguration came courtesy of the Italian Underground symphony label.

In January 2003 drummer Andre Bargmann was recruited into the ranks. Shortly after, Sam Totman decided to relinquish his post, as did Adam Bickers, the latter in order to pursue a career in medicine. The esteemed EDENBRIDGE singer Sabine Edelsbacher donated vocals to a 2003 POWER QUEST album entitled 'NeverWord', issued through the UK imprint Now & Then Records. Other studio guests included Clive Nolan of ARENA and THRESHOLD's Karl Groom. Following a UK tour and appearance at the Derby 'Bloodstock' festival POWER QUEST announced the addition of Gavin Ward, previously with CAUTION, EXIT WOUND and London Death Metal band LAST HOURS OF TORMENT, as their new drummer.

UK dates in June of 2004 saw the band partnered with INTENSE and MERCURY RAIN. The following month the band announced they had parted ways with Now And Then Records. Gavin Ward opted out in September, pursuing a degree course at University in Cornwall.

In January of 2005 it was revealed POWER QUEST, signing to the Majestic Rock label, had drafted Italian drummer Francesco Tresca in preperation for a new album billed 'Magic Never Dies', set to be produced by THRESHOLD's Karl Groom and Richard West. Japanese variants added a traditional extra track in 'The Longest Night'. POWER QUEST put in an appearance at the November 'Firefest 2' festival, alongside HAREM SCAREM, HOUSE OF LORDS, SARACEN, BALANCE OF POWER and DANGER DANGER, held at Nottingham's Rock City.

POWER QUEST toured the UK in March 2006 in collaboration with Norwegian act PAGAN'S MIND. The band teamed up with FIREWIND and ANGRA for a tour of France in February 2007.

The album 'Master Of Illusion' was originally set for a 2007 release through Majestic Rock. However, it eventually arrived via Austrian imprint Napalm Records in March 2008. A bonus track came in the form of a MEGADETH cover version, 'Reckoning Day'. In June the band announced the addition of guitarist Bill Hudson, a veteran of CELLADOR and COLDERA.

Bill Hudson performed as a guest with VOUGAN on 14th and 15th November 2008 in Goiania, Brazil for shows filmed for a DVD release. Hudson exited in April 2009 in a split described as amicable due to distance.

Steve Scott took his leave in early 2009. Alessio Garavello exited in September, closing a seven year tenure.
