Biography

Blues Rockers founded by ex URIAH HEEP and LUCIFER'S FRIEND frontman John Lawton and erstwhile ENID bass player Neil Kavanagh.

GUNHILL, named after a Sussex village of the same name, were founded in early 1994 with Lawton and Kavanagh being aided by former MIRROR MIRROR guitarist Rik Robyns, keyboard player Mike Roxworthy and ex-PREYER and MIRROR MIRROR drummer Lloyd Coates.

Following the debut album erstwhile SWEET guitarist Brian Bennett was drafted to replace Robyns and Coates made way for fresh drummer Chris Jones, previously with the BERNIE TORMÉ band and BILLY IDOL.

Lawton returned to URIAH HEEP in 1995 to front the band on a temporary basis as their present day singer Bernie Shaw was suffering with throat problems. This line up issued the 1997 album 'Nightheat'. Embarking on a European tour GUNHILL drafted the temporary services of STAY ON TOP keyboard player Roger Stoetzlark.

Kavanagh quit in 1998 and Dave Ross substituted for gig commitments. Further ructions occured when Jones departed. GUNHILL filled the gap with guitarist Rueben Kain and drummer Clive Vick. GUNHILL's latest line up sees Justin Shefford on the drum stool.
