Biography

Gloucestershire's TYRANT was founded during 1980, first quoting a roster comprising singer Chris Dawe, guitarists Gary Adkins and Nick Burr, bass player Pete Antonius with Mark Walker on drums. Subsequently Jim Merritt replaced Burr. TYRANT, fronted by Mark Kelser (a.k.a. Mark Kelsa), enrolled ex-CHINATOWN guitarist Danny Gwilym and the WRATHCHILD and MAX HAVOC credited Phil Vokins on guitar in 1984. A single, 'Hold Back The Lightning', produced by Mike Fisher and recorded at Millstream studios in Cheltenham, saw release in 1984. Subsequently, Kelser joined London based CARRERA and would be the subject of unsubstantiated reports stating that he had very briefly replaced ACCEPT's singer Udo Dirkschneider in 1983. Vokins joined PERSIAN RISK whilst Gwilym joined SHOGUN, TOKYO BLADE and ANCIENT WONDER. Kelser would later found Pop act HUNGRY ME with guitarist Martin Bushell.

During 2006 Phil Vokins returned to the scene with PSYCHOWRATH, a union with erstwhile WRATHCHILD members bassist Marc Angel, drummer Eddie Starr and BEYOND RECOGNITION vocalist Gaz Harris.
