Pauline Gillan, sister of DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan, formulated the GILLAN/DEAN project with erstwhile JERUSALEM and PUSSY bassist Paul Dean. Signing to Thunderbolt Records, the duo recorded the 'Rocks On' album across a range of studios including Mallorca, Ian Gillan's Kingsway Studios, Bath and London. Recording musicians included guitarist Ian 'Wes' Hall, bassist Tony White, keyboard player Paul Hale, drummers Clive Deamer and Kim Brodie plus GILLAN musicians bassist John Gustafson and keyboard player Colin Townes.

An intended live band featured Dean, Gillan, bassist Robbie Vincent and ex-AVENUE and NORTHERN DANCER drummer Keeth Naylor.

Gillan subsequently created the PAULINE GILLAN BAND.
