Noted as the band created by ex-JETHRO TULL guitarist Mick Abrahams. Original BLODWYN PIG albums now command high prices on the collectors market. The guitarist had first made his mark replacing a certain JIMMY PAGE in THE CRUSADERS before creating TOGGERY FIVE then journeying through MCGREGOR'S ENGINE through to the genesis of JETHRO TULL.

Quitting JETHRO TULL in 1969 Abraham (who was surreally replaced albeit briefly by BLACK SABBATH guitarist TONY IOMMI) founded BLODWYN PIG with ex MCGREGOR'S ENGINE bassist Andy Pyle, drummer Ron Berg and multi-instrumentalist Jack Lancaster.

Some of BLODWYN PIG's early gigs in Britain were supported by a fledgling LED ZEPPELIN, this position being reversed for LED ZEPPELIN's June 1969 UK tour, when BLODWYN PIG performed opening duties. Despite a meteoric rise into the charts with the band's first two albums 'Ahead Rings Out' and 'Getting To This' Abraham's quit the band he had formed. The vacant space was quickly filled as BLODWYN PIG strove on with ex YES guitarist PETER BANKS. This union was to crumble though as Banks departed to forge FLASH and in his stead came Larry Wallis of SHAGRAT.

The band switched names to LANCASTER'S BOMBERS but soon fractured however with the rhythm section of Pyle and Berg entering the ranks of JUICY LUCY with future WHITESNAKE guitarist MICKY MOODY then moving camps to SAVOY BROWN. Wallis journeyed on to a brief union with UFO, a stint with PINK FAIRIES and then MOTÖRHEAD.

Abrahams meanwhile had forged WOMMET with another erstwhile MCGREGOR'S ENGINE man Pete Fensome on bass, Ritchie Dharma on drums and John Darnborough on keyboards, an act that also quickly imploded.

Abrahams, continuing his liaison with Dharma, issued two solo albums 'Mick Abrahams' and 'At Last' before having another stab at remoulding BLODWYN PIG in 1974 with former JETHRO TULL band mate and drummer Clive Bunker. This latest incarnation lasted a matter of months.

Abrahams retired from the music business but was enticed back for some BLODWYN PIG live shows in 1988. This line up had Abrahams joined by ex COLLOSEUM veteran Dick Heckstal-Smith, drummer Clive Bunker, who had occupied himself mid PIG with AVIATOR, and Andy Pyle once more, the latter having trod a trail through CHICKEN SHACK, WISHBONE ASH and GARY MOORE's band before rejoining BLODWYN PIG. A further line up in 1989 would see keyboard player Dave Lennox and drummer Frank Walker enter the ranks and further manifestations still found the bass position occupied by Jim Rodford, Lyn Edmundson and STEVE MARRIOT'S PACKET OF THREE / HEMLOCK / CARAVAN and SAVOY BROWN member Jim Leverton.

Pyle would return to the GARY MOORE band taking with him Walker. BLODWYN PIG were far from finished though and in 1990 returned to the stage at a German JETHRO TULL convention where they were joined onstage by Ian Anderson.

Abrahams would issue a further solo effort 'All Said And Done' in 1991 before resurrecting BLODWYN PIG the following year re-recruiting Walker, Lennox and Leverton.

The present day BLODWYN PIG includes bassist Mike Summerland. Abrahams also continues with THE MICK ABRAHAM'S BAND and THE THIS WAS BAND.
