Biography
Another in the long line of noted refugees from JOHN MAYALL'S BLUESBREAKERS proving ground drummer Aynsley Dunbar since assembling RETALIATION has forged a career with some of the greatest names in Rock. RETALIATION were forged in London in 1967 by Dunbar, ex SHOTGUN EXPRESS vocalist John Moorhead, guitarist Victor Brox, and bassist Keith Tillman. Prior to recording the debut album the latter was superseded by Alex Dmochowski.
RETALIATION's debut for Liberty Records proved a strong Blues based Hard Rock record. Further records followed with two in 1969 'Doctor Dunbar's Prescription' and 'To Mum From Aynsley And The Boys', the third album seeing ex BABYLON keyboard player Tommy Eyre on board.
The band folded leaving Liberty to issue fourth record 'Remains To Be Seen' in 1970.
Both Dunbar and Eyre created a fresh act BLUE WHALE with JODY GRIND vocalist Paul Williams (later to join TEMPEST and COLOSSEUM).
Moorhead and Dmochowski joined HEAVY JELLY. Brox is now head of the VICTOR BROX BLUES TRAIN. Dunbar of course had a spell in American supergroup JOURNEY, JEFFERSON STARSHIP and OZZY OSBOURNE, latterly has been a member of MOGG/WAY and still plays with THE AYNSLEY DUNBAR TRIO. In 2000 he appeared on the UFO album 'Covenant'.
Eyre went onto JUICY LUCY, RIFF RAFF, ZZEBRA, GREG LAKE, GILLAN and GARY MOORE.
