Biography
Although Ukrainian born VITALIJ KUPRIJ is a keyboard player who has served with distinction in the classical field he is known within Rock circles for his dextrous skills with acts such as ARTENSION and RING OF FIRE. Besides his prolific output with ARTENSION ane numerous sessions Kuprij also proved industrious on the solo front.
His opening shot, 'High Definition' in 1997, would see the man working alongside guitarist GREG HOWE and drummer Jon Doman. Another album followed in 1998 'Extreme Measures'. Retaining Doman's services this outing would find MOGG/WAY guitarist GEORGE BELLAS and bassist John Onder trading their skills with Kuprij.
Yet another master guitarist was utilised for the 1999 third album 'VK3' in the form of TONY MACALPINE. Bass came courtesy of Dave Naccarelli. Kuprij's February 2004 offering 'Forward And Beyond' saw a wealth of session guests such as guitarists MICHAEL HARRIS, JEFF KOLLMAN and GEORGE BELLAS alongside Roger Staffelbach, Borislav Mitic and Fransesco Fareri. The keyboard player would donate his skills to the debut BOOK OF REFLECTIONS album that same year, a mainly Scandinavian "All star" symphonic, neo-classical Power Metal project assembled by Swedish guitarist LARS ERIC MATTSON. Continuing this connection, Kuprij featured too on the 2005 MATTSON recordings.
New solo sessions for VITALIJ KUPRIJ for a 2005 album, entitled 'Revenge', included studio contributions from, guitarist MICHAEL HARRIS, the YNGWIE MALMSTEEN rhythm section of bassist Randy Coven and drummer John Macaluso, the RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE credited JOE LYNN TURNER, Apollo Papathanasio of TIME REQUIEM, ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN singer Goran Edman and RAINBOW and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN singer Doogie White.
