Biography
A Melodic Rock union assembled during 2001. PULSE boasted seasoned players such as KOOGA, NO SWEAT and BOB CATLEY guitarist Vince O'Regan and HARD RAIN bassist Al Barrow. The band was founded as BORDERLINE by vocalist Simon Abbots and rounded out by keyboard player Alan Dawkins and drummer Lynch Radisky. PULSE would sign to the Italian Frontiers label cutting a self-titled 2001 debut album which featured NATIVE CAIN and PRIDE vocalist Lee Small and TEN and HARD RAIN keyboard player Paul Hodson as session guests.
PULSE would lend support to HAREM SCAREM's 2002 tour of Germany after which, in a rather odd turn of events, Prior to a scheduled appearance at 'The Gods' AOR festival Abbots was forced out of his own band. The erstwhile singer resolved to carry on, creating a fresh band entitled PULSE! Meantime Vince O'Regan carried on regardless, enlisting singer Ritchie Broadley of RAISING CAIN and tribute band AEROSMITH UK. The PULSE line-up that played at 'The Gods' festival saw Broadley and O'Regan joined by bassist Andy Mills, keyboard player Paul Hodson on loan from TEN and drummer Lynch Radinsky.
Confusion arose in June of 2003 when PULSE announced the return of original singer Simon Abbotts. However, within days Abbott had refuted the claim, insisting he was assembling a solo band comprising the DANTE FOX personnel bassist Bryn Jones and keyboard player Alan Dawkins along with drummer Stuart Picket. By September though it was indeed officially announced that Abbotts had rejoined PULSE.
The PULSE connection with Paul Hudson was strengthened when both guitarist Vince Regan and drummer Lynch Radinsky sessioned on his 2004 HODSON debut album 'This Strange World'.
PULSE, involving rhythm section Andy Mills on bass and Scott Barrow on drums, signed to MTM Music for a 2004 album 'World's Apart'. Released in September, this opus included a cover version of FOREIGNER's 'Feels Like The First Time'. In 2005 it was revealed that O'Regan and Barrow had forged a new band unit dubbed EDEN fronted by KICK's Nick Workman. That November PULSE apparently folded, as both Vince O'Regan and Andy Mills exited. However, within days of that announcement the remaining band members vowed to persevere. Early 2006 found O'Regan and Mills in an all new band unit billed ALIBI, fronted by Rick Chase of MAMA'S BOYS, GRAFFITI and DOUBLE CROSS repute.
